Book 4 in the series above needs an ACE. Details at link.

Sorry for posting adding book requests here but I got a notification today that a book that I asked to be added way back in August was finally done. They are so swamped over there that I hate to add to it.

gem | 2622 comments #1 Someone else added these books to the series.

Created paperback version for complete series: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

#2 Added to series. This book needs to be combined with another edition, but that feature is still disabled (grr) so can't do it right now.

#3 ACE edition added: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

#4 I'm reasonably certain the current cover on GR is a placeholder cover because it was just published last week, and it also doesn't match any of the other books in the series (and none of them have alternate editions). If it is a placeholder I'd rather replace it with the cover on Amazon, rather than create an ACE, but wanted to see if you had any insight into it being a placeholder or not. (Placeholders are the only covers we're allowed to delete.)

#4 - I've searched through my email newsletters and I'm not finding any from her so it was probably deleted days ago.
I can't confirm if the cover is a placeholder or not. I've been receiving so many emails from authors excited about replacing all of their current covers with new ones - because that's what indie authors do - since the beginning of the year. It's impossible to keep track of them all. Sorry.
I know that I have a ton of books on the adding books forum.
I remember marking one as urgent in the title because the cover was being replaced. That request has yet to be done. I guess I should try to find and delete it as I'm sure it's too late now, over a month has gone by.

gem | 2622 comments #4 - Reached out to the author about the cover, hopefully she writes back. The combine feature is still disabled. -_-

I hope it doesn't take as long as it did when they were working on the search feature. I miss the old Goodreads, too bad that companies always feel the need to "New & Improved" things instead of following the old "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" adage.

gem | 2622 comments The problem with "ain't broke, don't fix it" on the internet is that the technology running the web is ever-evolving, so if the GR developers were to sit back and do nothing (or just fix bugs) the site would quickly fall behind current web standards to the point it's unsalvageable. Thus developers have to continually make updates or they risk ended up looking and functioning like Craigslist.

Source: am a web developer ^_^

Unfortunately, web standards have done nothing but decline since about 2010. There's not a single web site that's better now.

That's largely because so many mainstream websites are now viewed as "apps" and function more like a program on your computer. Plus they're so bloated -- extra scripts for tracking analytics, tons of database calls, crucial legacy code yet all the developers are scared to touch it, etc.

But I'd argue the upside to all that is how useful websites are. Just yesterday I ordered a pizza online, customized toppings and had the picture update to match, securely paid with my credit card with very little worry about the card number being stolen, and then tracked its progress being baked and watched its position on a map update via GPS as it was delivered to my house. Pretty incredible amount of technology running behind the scenes on all that!

Thank you for explaining. Too bad that they had to change so much and make it not as much fun to use. I really miss the cover feature, where if you clicked on it a pop-up box would show a larger image of the cover. It's so hard to spot small changes now.

I just had a "Super" post that he did my "merge" post, so maybe combine is also working now.

gem | 2622 comments Author never wrote back about the potential placeholder cover so I just went ahead and created an ACE:
