My first attempt...

OUR MUTUAL FRIEND
COMMON PEOPLE
MORE THAN THIS
DO YOU REALLY WANT TO HURT ME
ONLY YOU
SWEET DREAMS
TAINTED LOVE
LOVE WILL TEAR US APART
THATS WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR (as the credits roll)

With maybe a Kate Bush song and one by The Smiths.

Your turn.

Some combination of Beethoven, EDM, and possibly some Gregorian chant remixes is how I hear the book's musical score. There would need to be some really ancient music in there, like harps and violins. Complicated, lyric heavy music would be appropriate too, I feel, because it is such a dense story filled with hyperliterate people.

radiohead
bowie
any eerie jazz would be good
idk what else :/

Ofc Wicked game by Chris Isaak and some Paganini pieces

The Smiths
Lana Del Rey
Chris Isaak
The Doors
Cocteau Twins
(and I didn't put these only cuz they're my fav artists & bands rn)

Daemonia Nymphe would have to make an appearance!

Maybe the songs "Daemonos," "Invoking Pan," "Hymn to Bacchus," "The Bells of Acheron," "The Fallacious Glance," "A Dagger of the Mind," "Suspicion," and/or "Into The Woods."

Other songs I'd possibly use:
Emmylou Harris - Deeper Well
Muse - Butterflies and Hurricanes
PJ Harvey - Is This Desire?

Lots of Lana Del Rey, some classics and occasional Hozier.

There would have to be a placebo song in there. 'Every you, every me'
The secret history gives a strong 'Cruel intentions' feel.

THE SMITHS

Bartok, Tangerine Dream, Dionne Warwick

This Mortal Coil is from the same era as the release and is fitting. I’d kill to create a soundtrack for TSH

sowieso Skyfall van Adele

nat king cole

Achilles come down is the song that reminds me constantly of the secret history.

Since this was about Bennington mid 80's there wouldn't be any pop songs (I was there). Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen, Coltrane and wilder jazz, and anything else from college radio at that time.

Wicked game

Rock'n Roll Suicide by Bowie for end credits

The Smiths

I forgot Bowie

Scary monsters (superfreaks)
