Kendra Rhodes The writing was awesome and very detailed, however I just didn't really like this one. I was upset by the domestic violence and animal mistreatement/abuse.

Anyone else?

Kristina Yes, it did make for a heavier reading.

Marcy Wilcox Yes, I hated the animal mistreatment/abuse and the domestic violence. I didn't even finish reading the book. I can't understand how so many people liked this book. It was horrible.

Glad to know I'm not alone on this one. I also didn't like that he had such strong feelings for a married woman, but for no apparent reason other than she was a star.

Jeff I was very disappointed. Not exactly sure why but half way through the book, I was DONE! Put a fork in it. It’s very rare that I don’t finish a book especially one I’m halfway through – even if I don’t like it. But this one I was ready to just throw in the trash, but donated it somewhere instead.
Not sure why the violence and animal mistreatment bothers people so much. It was probably pretty close to how it was back the day. Wrong, absolutely. Reality, probably. I guess some people just don’t like reality or don’t want to believe it exists so they avoid it? Not sure, and don’t know that I care. Each to their own.

Kendra Rhodes I read to get away from reality, lol. I guess that’s why I prefer more light-hearted and uplifting books. Which this book was not.

I also couldn’t ever figure out why Jacob liked Marlena so much.

Lisa Oh yes, I very much disliked it. It was so cringe at times. I DNFed when the author called an elephant BULL a "She".

Chase no I loved it, can't wait to listen to the audiobook!

Steve Gay I've been thinking about why I liked this book so much when others here didn't, particularly when I agree that the themes do not make it a comfortable read. The opening sold it to me, begging so many questions as it does, and of course the writing is very high quality. Would I read it again - no, but it's a book I'll never forget.
