Vincent Fabbiano | 1 comments Hello everyone, I'm new to Goodreads so I hope I'm in the right place. Over the last few years, I've created 5 children's books for my family that I truly believe are beautiful. They feature vibrant illustrations, creative stories, and they are fun rhyming books. So, I decided to sell them on Amazon.
However, the books are just not selling, and I really can't understand why. I've done Amazon Ads, but that is pricey and ineffective. I've also handed out free copies to my local community, but that does not seem to generate sales. I also post on my Instagram, but that too seems ineffective.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Una Tiers (unatiers) | 2 comments Hi Vincent:
Congratulations on your books.
I write mysteries and non-fiction and the marketing may be different from children's books since you market indirectly.
Our library has authors who read to children. And you might donate one book as part of that plan.
This morning I was listening to David Gaughran. He has a lot of tapes and articles that are well written and free.

If you talk to him, please tell him Una Tiers sent you.
There are countless books on marketing. Many people use social media like Twitter to get ideas about marketing.
I wish you well and hope this helps. As I do, you may find marketing harder than writing.

PS I sent you a friend request.

Rita Chapman | 16 comments Hi Vincent, yes marketing is the hardest part of all! You could approach local bookshops to see if you can do a book signing or reading at their store. There doesn't seem to be any magic technique except to keep plugging away.

I can offer you a free author interview on my website. It doesn't have a huge following but it might help. www.ritaleechapman.com. You can contact me through the website if you are interested.

Jennifer Penrose | 8 comments I have actually run into the same thing as a new author. The publisher that I used did run some press releases, but I have had to try to do some marketing on my own. I am just starting to try to use some social media sites as I never have used them before. I also tried some local marketing. I wish you the best of luck. Let me know if you find something that works really well. I did try sending some to some local preschools to help with word of mouth to parents.
