I think you need to create your own thread rather than responding here.

It's going to take me a moment to work through this. I will post updates here, so other librarians can partake as they wish.

Deleted this series.
Jennifer wrote: "A series based on the 4-volume Penguin series grouping that is correct (https://www.goodreads.com/series/2127...) and doesn’t need any major changes."
I have added a librarian note to the series description. I will go through the editions under this series, to make sure there aren't any editions merged in that don't follow the Penguin grouping. This feature is temporarily disabled for some Goodreads maintenance, so I will have to come back to that.

Jennifer wrote: "Two series based on the 14-volume Loeb Classical Library grouping. The first one (https://www.goodreads.com/series/9984...) is largely correct, though the series numbering has some typos and should probably be reformatted as Book 1 through Book 14 (instead of “BOOK 1-2” through “BOOK X”, the latter of which is incorrect as it isn’t a single book but is a table of contents and various fragments). Also, the book titles for each of these volumes are a mess and horribly inconsistent; they should all be retitled using the same format, probably something like “History of Rome: Books #-#"
I have added a librarian note to the description of this series as well. I have corrected the titles of the books. With regards to the series numbering, I have left the last one unnumbered. Unfortunately, some maintenance is still ongoing and I can't merge or separate editions yet.
Jennifer wrote: "- The second series based on Loeb (https://www.goodreads.com/series/3567...) is largely duplicative of the other with some random substitutions for books that just need to be combined with other editions; this series should be deleted."
I will work on merging/combining these once the maintenance is done.

Thank you so much for working on this! You're amazing :)

Had some more time today for this.

I have finished going through the duplicates and merged & separated books where applicable. This series is now deleted.

I have created a series for the Oxford World's Classic series:

Updated all series titles as such.
I have also created a new series based on an Italian grouping of the books: https://www.goodreads.com/series/3649...
To be continued...

Amazing, thank you so much!
I'm marking this thread as "done" because you've handled everything I've identified. :)
However, feel free to continue on! There are likely many other series that could be created—I just haven't put in the work to identify them.
The series is usually published in multiple volumes, but not every publisher groups the original books together in the same way. There are several series currently on Goodreads:
- A series based on the 4-volume Penguin series grouping that is correct (https://www.goodreads.com/series/2127...) and doesn’t need any major changes.- Two series based on the 14-volume Loeb Classical Library grouping. Also, the book titles for each of these volumes are a mess and horribly inconsistent; they should all be retitled using the same format, probably something like “History of Rome: Books #-#”.- The second series based on Loeb (https://www.goodreads.com/series/3567...) is largely duplicative of the other with some random substitutions for books that just need to be combined with other editions; this series should be deleted.- A series based on no discernible publication grouping that should be deleted (https://www.goodreads.com/series/1033...).A series should be created for the Oxford series grouping:Book 1: 1-5: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
Book 2: 6-10: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
Book 3: 21-30: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...
Book 4: 31-40: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...
Book 5: 41-45 (and Periochae): https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7...
(There are likely multiple other series breakdowns that could be created. For example, this edition (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8...) is relatively popular and the description notes it is part of a three-volume set, the Bristol Classical Press edition doesn’t seem to combine the books at all (but only a couple have been added to Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...), there’s whatever this edition is (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...), and so on. If someone wants to go for it, then go for it, but this observation is more of an FYI than part of the request.)
Please link to the Penguin and Loeb series in the Oxford series description and vice versa for all three.
Finally, all three series should probably be retitled. As they are, in fact, all the same series, I’d suggest something like “The History of Rome” in Four Volumes, “The History of Rome” in Five Volumes, and “The History of Rome” in Fourteen Volumes.
Thank you.
