Hey! I want a reading buddy too. I just started the Zodiac Academy, but I have the "Throne of Glass" series but never read. Would you like to be my reading buddy for that series?

@Ariel Yesss! It’s been a while since I’ve been that obsessed with a series 🤣 I hadn’t actually heard anything about it before, but I’m glad I found them! Hope you’ll enjoy the next ones too :)

message 2939: by catherine (new)

catherine | 7 comments Hello everyone! I have never actually buddy read anything with anyone, but it does sound like a really fun idea, and I would love to try it out. I do, however, need someone who is willing to explain to me exactly how buddy reading is done, because I’m still a little confused😭

message 2940: by Karen (new)

Karen Barber | 13312 comments Think I'm going to start June with One Puzzling Afternoon by Emily Critchley if anyone would like to join me.

message 2941: by Danique (new)

Danique van Dijk (daniquevdijk_) | 7820 comments Mod
@Catherine that’s totally fine, welcome! :) the idea is that people post books in this thread, asking whether anyone wants to read certain books with them. For example, if I wanted to find a buddy to read Six of Crows with me, I’d post a picture of the cover by clicking on the ‘add book’ (which I think is only available in a pc/laptop?). If someone wants to read it with me, we plan a date. Then, we go to the ‘planned buddy reads’ thread for the right month, so say we pick a date, June 1st, so we ask for the thread on that date. That just means that it’s ’officially’ planned and that anyone can join you and your buddy on that day. You can start a buddy read seven days early or two weeks late, but we always try to comment around the right date!

From the starting date onwards, you can discuss your thoughts with your buddy or buddies on the thread. So for Six of Crows, there’s a special ‘six of crows’ thread. By using the <.spoiler> (but without the dot) you can hide any spoilers for the people who aren’t as far yet! We usually read at our own pace, but you can also settle on a specific amount of pages a day, whatever you and the buddy prefer!

I hope that makes sense! I’ll try and add some links later when I’m on my laptop, so you get a better idea hopefully :) let me know if anything is unclear! It’s always sounds a bit difficult at first, but you can’t do anything wrong :) just see whether someone wants to read something you like or ask if anyone wants to read any of the books you like, and go from there!

message 2942: by catherine (new)

catherine | 7 comments @Danique thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to write everything down so thoroughly! Now the concept of buddy-reading is pretty clear to me, and I am really excited to start my journey🤭🤭

Hopefully Danique's explanation takes you through the process. If you haven't got a specific book in mind, it's worth looking at the planned buddy read thread for the month to see if anything has already been organised. The group BRs are a good place to start as they're open all month, so there's usually someone available to comment.

Ha ha ha….it is weird series, because at first your “Like is going on”. Then, the capture you with the personality of the girls. You can tell their twins, but have a separation. Then, they leave you on so many cliff hangers. The book keeps you guessing.
