Sarah (sbaileyauthor) | 26 comments Could these two editions of the audiobook be merged as they are the same and not two separate editions please?

Lieke | 4925 comments The audiobook and audible audio are two different editions, the audiobook is lacking an ISBN. If there is proof no audiobook edition is published it couldn be deleted.

They are the same edition. I know because I added the audiobook one before it published and intended to add the ISBN when I had it, but by the time I got around to it, the duplicate edition had been added by someone else.

Lieke | 4925 comments Can you then give the ISBN? The audible edition has an ASIN, so they are not duplicates if the other edition has an ISBN.

There is only one edition of the audiobook and it only has an ASIN. Someone else added the second one before I had a chance to get the ASIN from Amazon and add that to the edition I created - you can look at the change log and see that. I meant to say ASIN rather than ISBN as it doesn't have an ISBN, so I apologise for the slight miscommunication. They are duplicates, like I said in the first place.

Sarah (sbaileyauthor) | 26 comments At the end of the day, it is making me anxious that there are two editions of the audiobook when I, as the author, have only had ONE created. There is one single edition of it with an ASIN. There is no reason to be denying me this request and it's making me uncomfortable that you're not listening to me or taking what I've tried to explain to you into account. I'm trying to be reasonable here. I'm the author. I know how many editions of the book there are.

It is very clear in the log that I added the audiobook edition before it released on February 17th and before I could add the ASIN, another person added another edition of the audiobook with the ASIN I would have added to the original edition if I had a chance to. I have not got an ISBN for the audiobook edition I added because there isn't one.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments no need to delete the edition.
There are plenty of valid ASIN existing for it - so even if there is no "normal" audiobook edition with an ISBN there are still ASIN editions missing.
(every audible.* page and every Amazon page has different ASIN asigned to it depending on the country you chose)

Sarah (sbaileyauthor) | 26 comments What do you mean there's no need to delete? Why are there now four editions? There is one edition!

Why are you arguing with me over this? It is the same edition across Audible and Amazon. It isn't a separate edition for each Amazon country page or audible. It's one SINGLE edition.

They have different ASINs and are therefore considered different editions.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments On GR these are considered different editions.
And readers (in this case listeners) do want to shelve the edition they own which means if they got it on Amazon.com they will see a different ASIN than the ones that bought it over audible.com. And they do ask us to add that then.
That this is technically the same file does not matter for GR when it comes to editions.
No need to get upset and no, I'm not arguing, just explaining.

Hi Sarah. Librarians follow Goodreads Librarian policy when making changes to our catalog, which included doing due diligence before making changes. It's what makes our catalog so comprehensive and reliable for our members 😊.

In your case, each audio edition has a different ASIN (B0BTQ58C7N and B0BTQ4RZ8W), which indicates two separate editions and means that Librarians cannot remove either. If you need further help here, please reach out to Support.

Thanks Lieke, lethe and Lachgas for taking time to investigate here and advising on the catalog rules.
