personality || adeline has always been known for her rebellious nature, however, she's not the type to make reckless decisions and is actually quite calculated. she's responsible when she needs to be, despite her parents likely claiming that she was the most irresponsible person on earth. the truth is, she just didn't want to be queen. however, she takes her job as a teacher very seriously and feels responsible for the safety of her children, even if her training and teaching methods are a bit harsh. when she's not teaching, she's usually either relaxing in her room or training and getting tips and such from other house teachers. she's someone with a lot of stamina and can be pretty playful when she wants. she can also be pretty sarcastic at times and is the type of teacher who will tell you not to ask stupid questions.

history || as long as she could remember, she bore the responsibilities as the eldest mordino princess. while some people would love for such an opportunity, to be the heir to the country, the female had always been rather rebellious. it seemed as though she never had any plans to become the monarch and ended up attending the school as a raven, instead of sparrow as they wished. even though she was a raven and her specialty was always in silent combat, the female actually trained in various other things with her team from other houses, who taught her all kinds of things so she could be a proficient person. even after graduation, she did not return to her kingdom and instead began teaching at the academy after two years of wandering.

Description: Robin stands at around 5’ 8”, and she’s also on the thinner side. Her skin is very pale, so she burns easily, while she has a dusting of freckles on her face and arms. She had green eyes and thick, long red hair that is almost always pulled back. Her features are also thinner--her nose, arms, face, and legs.

Scars, tattoos, piercings etc: She has a tattoo of a robin on her back, as well as some scars from missions. She also has a limp in her right leg from being hurt on a mission two years prior.

Personality:
Robin is someone who understands and appreciates the value of family and loyalty. She’s incredibly loyal to the Menagerie while she also adores her family to no end. Unlike some people, she doesn’t see emotions as weakness, and instead pushes people to be human. That said, she knows they’re at a spy school and that emotions can be a liability, and so she also says there is a time and place for them. Missions are usually not that place unless it’s undercover or it cannot be helped. But other than that, if someone is having a crisis, she’s open to being the one to help them; it comes from having two younger siblings.
Robin is not someone to try and lie to or to try to get away with something around--she has strong morals when it comes to school rules that could endanger people, and will tell a teacher if she sees someone breaking a rule. Robin is extremely observant and silent. So, she’s onto Alianna, or at least onto the fact someone in Dove is causing problems, she’s trying to figure out who. The redhead is patient, having spent many nights hiding in rafters and in dark spaces on missions to gain intel. She’s literally one of the most patient people ever.
But don’t make her mad, because when she’s angry she can get snappy and sarcastic and a bit harsh. Not harsh in a way she’d hurt someone—she’s a pretty good person—but she is harsh in terms of carrying out punishments like extra training, more work, cold lectures, all of that--she's also responsible, so Robin is often entrusted to help train people. Because she hates bullying and hates people joking around, as missions can be serious and to her, everyone has to have their mind clear for them. So she’s very much a separation of emotion and mission work type of advocate. But she can, again, be compassionate, though her sense of humor is varied. It depends on her mood and who she is with. While she makes an effort to get to know people, she won’t be a best friend with them. She has boundaries. Though she is good with kids.
All this said, Robin is closed about her personal life. There’s nothing really bad about it, kind of, but part of her intelligence gaining stealth personality has a need to protect her loved ones and just…it’s not her students’ businesses to know about her life unless she tells them. She is, though, open to helping other students in their skill sets and will give tips, even as she is willing to learn more herself. Robin is also very good at keeping secrets and hiding her emotions when need be. She's strong-willed and not easily broken, and she does tend to try and find something positive in the world whenever she can. She believes people are a mix of bad and good and that nobody is perfect, and she's someone who doesn't advocate for killing enemies unless there is really no other option, and even then she won't celebrate it.
She's focused and determined, and scarily quiet and observant when she wants to be. She's great at slipping into and out of places without being seen, and she's very used to undercover work as well. While she's okay at lying, too, as she has to be for undercover work, she strengths lie in stealth. Another thing about Robin is that she's an advocate of rehabilitation for criminals. Yes, some deserve to be locked up, but while locked up she is an advocate for giving them education and help, to try and help them become productive members of society again. It doesn't make her a very popular person among the royalty and nobility all the time.
As for rules...it's complicated. On one hand, she knows not following them on missions is a no-no, because people can get killed. And some rules must be followed: treat others with respect unless they're absolute assholes; don't kill people; all of that. But. She grew up kinda a thief. She never felt super good about it but she did anyway because her family never had a lot of money, so she'd steal things to get her siblings some birthday presents or cake from time to time. And now, she's someone who understands poverty and what it can make someone do, so Robin, in her mind, knows that stealing is something people justify, and something she tends to punish less. She would rather work with the person and fix the root of the problem than punish them, but even then it depends on what they steal. Robin is also not someone who cares too much about curfew--if you break it to go eat food, sure, whatever. Just don't go off campus and start partying. Then she'll get ticked off. She can also be stubborn sometimes, and hates being injured and can sometimes argue with her superiors.

History:
Robin was born to a poorer family in Elmswood, in a small country village, the daughter of a carpenter. She loved it, the rolling green hills and the rain. She was the oldest of three total siblings, her younger twin siblings being born when she was four years old. Robin immediately fell in love with them and would do what she could to take care of them when her parents were busy or at work. As for her parents, Robin was born into a loving family. No matter how much the family suffered financially, they were always so supportive and tight-knit. Everyone loved one another and still does, while always working hard to make commitments to each others.
So, she grew up knowing she was accepted by loving, open-minded, and supportive people. Robin and her siblings were able to have some schooling, a public one funded by a kind-hearted merchant, and while there Robin struggled. She liked it, but learning was hard for her, though she liked joining after-school runs when she was seven. The feeling of freedom it gave her was thrilling, and her parents would go to every match they could, while her little siblings would also cheer her on.
While the family was loving and supportive, Robin was also someone who, at times, would break house rules just to help her siblings be happier. She was raised in a moral household and she hated anyone breaking rules, but Robin also realized that some were needed: she developed a habit it early on of sneaking into the kitchen and giving her siblings extra deserts, while she one day ended up breaking the law--she was only ten, and her family was doing even worse off financially after her dad died, killed when he was on his way back from work when his horse was spooked and he was thrown from it. It was her twin siblings' birthday and she wanted to get them a cake, but they couldn't afford one. So, breaking the law, Robin snuck into the bakery and managed to make off with a small cake for her siblings without being caught....yet. Point was, she was able to do it, and while her mom was horrified, the worst that happened was Robin getting grounded for two months. But even then she ended up sneaking out to visit friends at night, beginning to get desperate. That's how great she became at sneaking around without being caught.
One night, though, when she was twelve, Robin--who had made a bit of a habit of stealing to make sure her siblings had what they needed for a comfortable enough life--was caught by a Menagerie spy, a Raven, when she tried to steal some new clothes for her siblings, as her mother had lost her job the year before as well, and finances were very tight. But what happened next, well, Robin credited the agency with saving her--they invited her to join the Menagerie, and admitted they'd been watching her for a bit, to train as an agent, something that would earn her enough to actually help support her family and get herself out of poverty. While Robin didn't want to leave her loving family, she also hated theft of that sort because she knew it was wrong, and this way maybe she could actually help her family. So she accepted the offer, and the spy paid her family enough to get them through the next year. Thankfully, her mom found a better-playing job within that year, and while to this day they don't make a lot, it's better than it was and Robin wouldn't feel the need to steal when she came home on breaks anymore.
At the Menagerie, Robin was placed in Raven, the house of stealth and killing. While she loved this type of thing better than other education, she hated the assassination part. Robin sees herself as a pacifist unless she absolutely has to end someone, and talked to administration. So, she's a Raven, but they agreed to send her in as a spy to gain information instead, and only kill if she has to. She only takes on missions she feels morally okay about.
She enjoys her time on stake out missions, grabbing intelligence and such to help the world, but when she was seventeen, on a training mission, disaster struck.
Robin found out that one of the spies she was working with, one her teachers, was an assassin for an enemy kingdom. When they were found out, Robin attacked and incapacitated, since the teacher had more physical skills than her, and was able to steal the intelligence Robin had just gathered. He wounded her leg, making her unable to ever walk again without a limp, unless she's on pain medication. Upset, and unable to be as fast and stealthy as she used to be, and not wanting to be on medication as much, Robin is working on rehabilitation and has since not been on many missions, unable to move as fast and stealthily as she used to. Occasionally, if it's desperate or she's feeling ambitious or stubborn, she will join a mission and take the medication. She still tries undercover sometimes, but prefers the stealth stake-outs and intelligence grabs without undercover work. Both are okay though, and sometimes she fights the superiors who want her off field because of her wound, or who want her to do a morally questionable mission. She's also had. a crush on Silas for a few years now.

Crows specialize in poisons and bombs and usually take a back seat and create the poisons and bombs needed by the other classes. Each Crow is assigned to another member in a different class, the Crows are also trained to read and un-code coded messages. They are also trained in how to fight but are more versed in poison, bombs, and codes.

Students who are not born into an alumni family can also be invited to the academy. The Menagerie keeps a close eye on any individual who shows promise of becoming an assassin.

History: Darian’s mom died when he was born, and ever since then, his father had not always been there. Darian’s dad left one day when he was 13 and never came back. Darian was sent to an adoption center, where he was adopted by the Welch’s. John Hubert Welch and Lizzie Rose II Welch. They had a daughter, Bethany Rose III. She was 4 years old and wanted a big brother. Obviously, her parents couldn’t get an older brother. So they adopted Darian. Darian had a blast with the Welch’s, until a year later John and Lizzie got a divorce. It was mayhem. During the first 6 months of the year, Darian was with his father, and Lizzie had Bethany. In the last 6 months, it was reversed. However, over winter and spring break, Bethany and Darian were with their Grandma. Lizzie and Bethany’s last names got changed to “Welch-Lang”, and Darian had his last name changed from “Reynolds” to “Reynolds Welch-Lang”. Despite being adopted by the Welch family, Darian never felt like he wasn’t part of their family.

Personality: Zephyr values strength and health above all else. If you can beat him in a wrestling match or beat him in some other way, he'll respect you ten-fold. If you can't beat him, but he can sense you tried, he'll still respect you, and offer to help you get stronger. He's humble, in a strange sort of way, and is always dishing out compliments and then walking away. Zephyr gives but expects nothing back. He's kinder than he wants to be, because deep down, every time he manipulates or hurts someone, it breaks him. The boy wants nothing but to be able to help people, but he's forced to be a violent, pessimistic fool for this school. He doesn't hate, not often, but he hates this school and everything about it. Zephyr is a social butterfly and craves having friends. He finds a way to fit in wherever he goes. His morals are hard to deal with, and he's always wanted to be a doctor. Instead... History: Zephyr was born into the kingdom of Rothnia, a life of luxury and royalty. He was mostly raised by servants and nurses, as his parents were so busy with their position. As a result, he always wanted their attention whenever they bothered to be around. He would act up sometimes, doing small things to get their attention even if it never worked. Or he'd do something really impressive and show them. To no avail. He wasn't the heir to the throne. He was younger than his other siblings, and he couldn't inherit anything when they passed away. He was hardly royalty, in their eyes. Eventually, Zephyr stopped trying. He focused on his studies, and instead pleased nobles and important guests. They liked him a lot. He learned the art of manipulation, guided himself to be a people pleaser. Zephyr was a man of the people, he always visited the town, the 'commoners' and spoke with them. He never forgot a face. They loved him very much, his kindness and soft-spoken words were a seduction to any man or woman he met. As he grew older, he realized he still didn't find... happiness, from pleasing others. He just wanted his parents to acknowledge him. But they were so enthralled by their eldest son, --, that they probably didn't know he existed. Zephyr craved their attention, so he fell back to his old ways, causing mischief and trying to get them to see him. They never did. When the invite came, asking for him, he was more than happy to leave his parents behind. He didn't have much of a childhood, so he needed to take hold of what he had left and move on. So Zephyr did. Sometimes.. late at night, when he thinks no one is looking, he lets himself grieve. His parents were there, sure, but they weren't there for him. They didn't show him love. So he grieves for what he could have had, the life he could have lived. And it burdens him like flaming coals in a thin fabric sack. It burns through his pack, hurting him to his very core, and yet he needs the warmth.

History: Self-Harm, Suicide, Abuse, etc. (view spoiler)[When Taliah found out she was pregnant, she was devastated. She couldn't support a baby in the midst of a rocky divorce. Money was scarce, her house had been taken away and she had no money. She felt anguish to know she was going to have a child, she'd already had one, and she had been taken away by their father. Taliah knew the police would find out she had a baby, and they would take her child away. Not that she cared, she couldn't support it anyways. The birth was hard, too hard on her body. Taliah almost died, and she took it as a sign. This baby girl, Jinx, was a curse. A few days later, they took her baby away. Taliah didn't fight it. She was being selfish, she couldn't give her baby to the man who took everything else. He would hurt her children, just as he hurt her. But she couldn't fight. She was so... tired.
Jinx found herself in a household that was just like her. Chaotic. Her dad was always home while her older sister worked. He would hit her and hit her and hit her. She couldn't fight back, she was only three. Jinx hadn't done anything to make him mad, she tried her best to be perfect, but children made mistakes. And mistakes weren't okay. If she spilled some food sitting at the table, he'd throw her plate at her face, usually breaking the glass so it would mar her round face. If she tripped and fell, scraping her knee, and started to cry, he'd pick her up and throw her back down again. "You don't know what pain is!" He'd scream. Jinx wasn't the only one dealing with this. Her sister, Mina, would sometimes fail to bring home a good amount of money. Her father would bring out the bottles or the mugs or even a vase, and he'd smash it over her head. Syntar would beat her with the broken end, slice her skin open and disfigure her. All Mina would do is take time off work and lock herself away. Sometimes her father would scream at the door, telling her if she wasn't exactly who he wanted her to be, she wasn't worth anything. Sometimes he'd tell her to kill herself, and other times he'd break down the door and rip her room apart.
As Jinx turned four, another child turned up, as well as the news that her mother was dead. She was found with a belt around her neck in the woods. Taliah had killed herself. Fenix was little, too small for his age. As he grew, it became more and more apparent something was wrong. Her father hated that. He wanted a son, but not a pathetic useless one. So he killed him. Syntar drowned Fenix in boiling water, making Jinx and Mina watch as the boy's skin peeled away. Jinx wasn't okay after that, but Mina.. Mina couldn't deal with the memory. Mina couldn't live with it. So she didn't.
Jinx went to ask her sister a question, tip-toeing down the hallway so her father didn't hear. She pushed open the door. Mina was dead. She'd killed herself, violently, blood soaked into the wood. Her insides pooled into the floor, where she'd tied some of them around her neck. Jinx didn't scream. She stood there in shock, helpless as the image burned into her brain. She covered her mouth and felt a single, cold tear slip down her cheek. Jinx's only support was gone. For once in her life, she did the right thing. She grabbed Mina's phone and called the cops. She informed them of everything, especially about her father's abuse. Halfway through the call she heard her dad tromp towards Mina's room. He was drunk, and demanded she go and make dinner. Syntar came through the threshold and saw Mina, dead, and Jinx on the phone. He grabbed it from her and hung up. It was too late for him.
The police barged through the door to find Syntar had thrown Jinx down the stairs and was ripping her hair out. They raised their guns.
Finally.. Finally Jinx was free.
But she wasn't. She still carried the hurt of her dead siblings on her chest, wishing it had been her instead, wondering why he didn't kill her too. She had no escape, no release, their voices rang in her mind, the memory of watching Fenix boiled alive, of finding her sister hat commited suicide. She could hear her brother's screams. Sometimes at nighttime, she tosses and turns, and sometimes, she sees her sister laying next to her. Eyes closed, her face a look of bliss, while the rest of her is visceral and gored. How she looked so happy to finally be free. And Jinx is stuck here. Scared. (hide spoiler)]
