Ben’s Book Nook ☭ (bensbooknook1) | 16 comments Heya, as I’ve been reading more books this year I’ve wanted to start and review some of them but I have no idea where to start or how to do it. Everytime I try I feel like I’m doing it wrong lol. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Mariano | 21 comments I would say that reviewing a book is something that shouldn't feel like a chore. Each person has their own way that they prefer to write their reviews so I would say just talk in your own voice. However, when it comes to *what* you should talk about in your reviews, I would say anything about the book that particularly caught your interest, whether in a good or a bad way. For example, how was the characterization? Did they feel flat to you or fleshed out? Did you like their personalities or find them annoying? What about plot? Pacing? The writing? Did you enjoy the author's style or find it amateur? What about the world-building? The atmosphere/lack thereof? Of course, you don't have to include all this in your reviews if you don't feel like it, but these are just a few of the things to think about before going in so that you can make note of them as you read and make it easier to sum up your thoughts after you finish. Of course, if you're not used to doing reviews or don't normally think too heavily on certain aspects of a book it might take some getting used to but it gets easier over time as you train your brain to look for certain things. But as I said, everybody has their own style and you can ultimately do whatever you want to do. :•)

I'm fairly certain I wrote my first review on this site simply in order to process how much I hated the book. Nearly 1200 reviews later, not much has changed, only that I have fancier analysis language and a better grasp on spelling errors.

Saloni Porwal (saloniporwal) Take notes while reading a book. Like at some point if u like something, note that wherever and write ur review as soon as u finish reading the entire book. The notes give u like a bullet point list of things to include in the review. Don't review books u read ages ago coz then ur memory will be tainted.

I find that it helps to read other ppls reviews to frame my own n put my thoughts into sentences. I do that mainly when I need to review an ARC I read a while back... If u do decide to read others' reviews, go for a.mix of positive and negative, minimum 3.

Hope this helps<3
