Diane Moseley | 2641 comments Layman Terms (Simple Language) -We didn't go to school already knowing the answer to everything, we had to be taught. For some, just Basic Math was difficult and other subjects. We also learn differently: some need hands-on direction, and some may need special attention. Same with Christians regarding the 'King James Version Bible', especially the beginners, and truth be told some seasoned Christians struggle with some of the passages in the Bible. We're ALL a work in progress, learning and developing as we go along. Yes, the King James Version is my first choice, but there are other translated versions of the Bible as well. Not everyone has developed in hearing the Holy Spirit and might get frustrated when trying to understand what the Word is saying. Yes, I use the "NLT-New Living Translation Version' when sharing my Scriptures as well the King James Version. I use the NLT because it breaks down in 'layman's terms for some who are still learning. I have had people young and old that was raised reading the KJV, but also appreciate their other version that breaks it down more. I will always read the KJV and encourage you to have it as your main Bible. May God continue to bless us with the hearing and doing of HIS WORD with Wisdom, Knowledge, and Understanding. -Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions. -Psalm 119:18
For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. -Proverbs 2:6-7
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. -Ephesians 1:17
So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing. -1 Thessalonians 5:11

Nancy (truthfulreviewer) | 215 comments I realize the KJ bible is a bit difficult for some to understand, but that can be a SPIRITUAL problem, not an intelligence problem, or an educational level problem. I encourage people struggling with the King James bible to get a reliable KJ dictionary and concordance, not Strongs, but Young's. It takes just a little bit of time daily to look up words.
If people would spend as much time reading the King James bible, with a concordance on hand, as they do texting friends, or watching tv or ungodly movies, they would be able to comprehend the KJ bible EASILY. People seem to be spiritually lazy, and more in love with indulging the flesh, than in giving the Word of God more time.

Nancy (truthfulreviewer) | 215 comments Diane, scroll down in this article, and see why you should NOT use the NLT: https://thestandard.org.uk/the-blog/i...
Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Proverbs 18:21 (NLT)
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.

The KJV says death and life ARE in the power of the tongue and the NLT infers that it might be.
If you look at the word ‘lips’. It is mentioned in the KJV No.118 times. However, it is only mentioned in the NLT No.56 times. Why would the word ‘lips’ be so significant? It is because the Word of God gets it power from the spoken word. Whilst the kingdom of God resides inside each and every Christian, God’s power is released from spoken prayer.

Compare these two versions

Joshua 1:8 (KJV)

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Joshua 1:8 (NLT)

Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

The KJV tells the reader to keep ‘saying’ the Word, it "Shall not depart...) whereas the NLT infers that the Word can simply be studied, read and does not imply to read it out loud.
