Series description:
Though originally sold in multiple parts as was common at the time, Court Royal was written to be a single work and is also published as a single volume.
Please set as default description and replace existing generic descriptions (adapted from: https://www.jstor.org/stable/45291675..., https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/a...
The Eveleigh family, headed by the Duke of Kingsbridge, lives in splendid rural isolation at the ducal seat of Court Royal. However, their declining financial power forces them to borrow money to maintain the estate, and they become debtors of a Jewish pawnbroker named Lazerus and a self-made London businessman called Cheek.

The relationship between these three families unfolds amidst the story of Joanna Rosevere, the novel’s heroine. A tough and intelligent young woman without wealth or family, Joanna grows up the servant of Lazarus. While he plots the downfall of the Duke in revenge for a long-past transgression, Joanna faces her own trials and navigates complicated relationships.

Court Royal, set in southwest England during the decline of the landed interest and the rise of trade, tells the story of the last act in the ruin of a ducal family brought low by chronic extravagance. Baring-Gould explores the conflict between the English aristocracy and nineteenth century individualism and capitalism, contrasting the effete, decaying aristocrats, imprisoned in their rank and incapable of change, with the vivid, ambitious, hardworking Joanna.
Thanks!

If you create separate threads in the folders each request is related to there is a higher chance of them being fullfilled.

For example
for the covers: Book Cover Help folder
editions: Adding New Editions & Books folder
correcting a date, updating an information: Book Issues folder
for combining: Book Issues folder
for serieses: Serieses! folder
If you want to create a post with all of these then you should use the Looking for a Project? folder

I thought the Projects folder was more for longer requests, but I'll try moving it there.

Goodreads limits the amount of threads that can be created in an hour, and bumping multiple threads is a hassle, so that isn't really a viable option.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 2324 comments I'm a librarian who works in Looking for a Project & I don't think this thread belongs there.

The work I've done in Looking for a Project has taken at least 10 hours for each project - hundreds in the case of one author.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 2324 comments Ooops - too late.

Okay, I'll move it back!

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 2324 comments Thanks - I know it's frustrating.
