Now I need to go and look for Jane Eyre again - or go and buy Shirley, because I know I don't own it. So I'll update you guys later :)

Wow you read wuthering heights!! that is still a win too! I read that a couple of years ago, I liked it but I regret reading it before Tennant of Wildfell Hall. Don't worry about Shirley, you have until the end of the month to read it and if not you can always come back when you actually read it, its not like its gonna disappear :)

And indeed, I had to power-read some parts, because the psychology is sometimes naïve and awkward, but the finesse of Nelly Dean's character's and the way her unreliable narration is built, the fact that you never can tell wether she's the true villain or just a little more curious than she ought... That got me hooked.

wow you read it in French!! I can imagine the translation to be not the greatest of quality. ironically I am getting my diploma in French literature and I suck at reading in French. I also couldn't tell when they would flip flop the narrators so I had to google it. when people call that book a romance I get very pissed cause it's not !!! I am glad you liked it more on the reread.
