Not Forgetting the Whale aka The Whale at the End of the World is an engaging story about a London financial analyst who runs away to the Cornish coast of England. The book dragged in parts, but I enjoyed it a great deal in the end. I picked it up for the whale and ocean setting, and I had forgotten that a flu epidemic is part of the plot. The book was published in 2015, so I was constantly comparing the events in the books versus Covid. The book touches on many topics that I really like: How people act during crisis situations; human nature, kindness vs selfishness; economics, community; the wisdom of crowds and forecasts of the end of the world. I also liked the investment bank part of the plot and the small village behavior. I just finished the book, and my rating might change as I think more about the book.

I'd like to recommend this book for anyone working on February holidays. This book fits World Whale Day 2.19

This book also reminded me a great deal of Humankind: A Hopeful History, and I think it's a great way to celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day.
