It's pretty good so far. Pretty good meaning, it's keeping my interest, but not enough to actually start fangirling. o_o

I loved this one! Not a huge fantasy fan but it was easy to follow. I definitely saw the whole twist about Meira coming from literally the beginning. This book has one of the worst love triangles though! I am so torn! I seriously LOVE LOVE LOVE both Mather and Theron! Mather has the whole long time sweet best friend thing going for him. And Theron has the whole charming caring prince thing going. I really have no clue which way it will go and which way I really want it to go. That usually doesn't happen. I usually know even if it is the guy that doesn't get the girl.

SHHH! I HAVEN'T GOTTEN TO THAT PART YET.
Okay, I'm almost there. Theron's been mentioned, but he hasn't made an appearance yet.

YAY! Exciting! I met her when the book came out and got my copy signed! She was very nice and it was interesting to learn how she came up with the idea and had it for most of her life and just developed it over time.

I did like her at first. But once she was captured, I couldn't stand her for some reason.

By the way... I like Theron AND Mather. Isn't that a rarity. o-o

I'm partial to Theron lol

But it didn't make me feel. It is hard task in a fantasy ..."
I actually felt the same way, even though I loved it. Not a complete fangirl, sadly. I haven't actually checked the premise for the sequel though...

I might be a little partial to Mather. A LITTLE.
By the way, has anyone noticed Meira sounds almost like "mirror?"
A heartbroken girl. A fierce warrior. A hero in the making.
Sixteen years ago the Kingdom of Winter was conquered and its citizens enslaved, leaving them without magic or a monarch. Now, the Winterians’ only hope for freedom is the eight survivors who managed to escape, and who have been waiting for the opportunity to steal back Winter’s magic and rebuild the kingdom ever since.
Orphaned as an infant during Winter’s defeat, Meira has lived her whole life as a refugee, raised by the Winterians’ general, Sir. Training to be a warrior—and desperately in love with her best friend, and future king, Mather — she would do anything to help her kingdom rise to power again.
So when scouts discover the location of the ancient locket that can restore Winter’s magic, Meira decides to go after it herself. Finally, she’s scaling towers, fighting enemy soldiers, and serving her kingdom just as she’s always dreamed she would. But the mission doesn’t go as planned, and Meira soon finds herself thrust into a world of evil magic and dangerous politics – and ultimately comes to realize that her destiny is not, never has been, her own.
