I should be there tomorrow, Sunday mid- to late-afternoon, after Feminerdy discusses Klara and the Sun. I will finish my final Caboose read by then and have posted the review. It is a fast enjoyable read.

Nicole D. | 1573 comments my goodness, 11 days into February and this post already has 5 pages. LOL

I'll take a roll please.

message 203: by Book Concierge (new)

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8412 comments Well I rolled '11' which means I have to read something off someone else's Subdue list before I can roll again. I'll check to see whether I can get my hands on my own book (# 32) or a fellow STSer's first. Guess I have to do some research on what I'll read next ....

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8412 comments QUESTION: I have to read something off another player's Subdue The Shelf list before I roll again. Wondering if only the original STS lists are used or may I also use the Porter level STS lists?

I feel the same way. Competition can be very energizing for me (eustress), and very fun in short races (but not marathons). When I started watching the clock while reading, I knew it was time for a priorities check. My current subdue book is wonderful 1 or 2 chapters at a time, but then I tune out. So I'm taking a break off the train for a while.

I'm going to guess that Anita will say any list is fine. Some of the Porter lists have many England books, so you might find something you wanted to read this month anything.

FYI, Tessa, incase your not sure-you have to read the book # you rolled AND a book from someone else's list. Not sure about using either list, but I don't see why not.

Theresa | 15510 comments TOOT! TOOT! I have arrived in the Baggage Car!

CGI Tom is about to earn his position. I've brought along a few bean bag chairs, a supply of sippy cups filled with celebratory flaming raspberry rosemary daiquiris, and an array of tailgate party food to see us through until Monday! CGI Tom is on duty with refills on all and a snifter for the flames.

@Amy - I've a fresh supply of Meowy Wowwy to keep Gnarly in line so you and Tessa can perform a duet without risk of Gnarly trying to make it a trio.

I just finished an excellent detective story. Can I persuade anyone to play a game or two of classic Clue from the Magic Hermione Trunk?

message 210: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12568 comments I tell ya, Tom is loving all the action-I told him to lay off the daiquiris And do his job!

I haven't started my next book (#18) yet, so I'm not sure if I'm in the Baggage car already or if I get there when I start reading, but if I'm already there, I can do some socalizing with Gnarly and see if we can get him a bit better with people! :-)

You are there as soon as you have posted the review for the last Caboose book and have your roll. Amy hasn't mentioned Gnarly lately so I think your presence coupled with the Meowy Wowwy has already worked some magic, Cindy!

message 214: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12913 comments The only way I am going to be able to live with that Damned Cat another second, is I can immediately passed one of those Raspberry Rosemary Daquiri's ASAP! I hope Gnarly chokes on one of the pieces of Classic Clue. Yes Theresa, I will play, but I am being extremely careless with the pieces. Tom can make his way over here, ASAP, and Cindy can try her magic on this Infuriating Beast!

I like Classic Clue - but can I also interest players in some Classic Rummy Q? I can even play that one drunk on the RRD's. Now who is with me in this Wildly Feral Baggage Car? Kate and Cindy and Theresa just got there. I think Tessa, and maybe Fran blew out of there a while ago? Not sure. Where the heck on the train is my beloved HayJay? Has Joy and Oliver breezed past us yet? Are Hannah and Nancy riding the top of the train so they don't even need to be held up by our internal clog and drunken lazy game playing behavior? I need Holly's help, because I can't somehow even manage to get to the library these days where Beekeepers Promise is waiting for me. Holly has been drifting about, but to tell you the truth, I think she's been getting off at the stops a lot, and sort of disapparating. I like to think she's in search of special gifts for us.

But I am glad for the new company, as I am so close to the Second Class Lounge that I am practically breathing on it! At least I was able to wait for the renovations. Looks like the SCL will be a little more peaceful and quiet. I am however, likely to arrive a little drunk. Is there a shower? Or lint brush? I'd sort of like to remove myself from Grnarly's continued presence.

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12568 comments I am still in baggage, #26-so unless I roll a 9 next time I am here for at least 2 more books. I have not started # 26 yet.

message 219: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12913 comments Joanne - I thought I had read you were already in Second Class. I am glad for your company. At least this B Car is a superfun group. We have the OG Gang! Come play a game with us and toast with the RRD's. Sure tasty.....

Theresa | 15510 comments @Amy - check out the Master Gameboard thread not only to see where everyone is but also what cars encompass what places.

message 223: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12913 comments I definitely will when I’m not on my damn phone. It’s a particularly busy and stressful couple of days. I’m like the only person I know who is stressed out on a Sunday morning! Like there is way too much to do and it’s all important. Plus, 11 12/13 year olds in the basement tonight. T -6 for me!

message 225: by Book Concierge (new)

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8412 comments Amy ... I am still in Baggage Car ... Eating claritin like they are M&Ms to compensate for that d****d feline. Hard to sing well when my nose is stuffed up. But I'm coping. Currently on # 21 and my next move takes me to # 32 ... Oh, but I also have to read something off someone else's STS list before I can go any further. And, if my next roll is a 2 or a 3 I'm still in the same car.

message 226: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments Rolling early today because I'm cooking for a "Souper Bowl" and then after that have an actual Super Bowl party to attend. Will try to check back later tonight though for any additional rolls needed.

Rolls for 2/12:

Robin 3-3
Joy D 6
BooknBlues 1-2

message 227: by Sue (new)

Sue | 2713 comments Feeling a little silly - apparently I've been in the Baggage car for a while without even noticing? I blame it on work - I've been treating this train like a commuter, getting off every Monday AM to trudge back to my job.

But since I'm here in Baggage, I'm ready for any board games at any time. I grew up in a family that was obsessed with board games - all played for blood so watch out.

message 230: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15510 comments @Sue - we need to pull out Lord of the Rings Risk then, the extended version with trolls and dragons!

message 231: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15510 comments Oh, and Sue? Have CGI Tom give you 2 flaming daiquiris. You clearly need them!

message 232: by Robin P (new)

Robin P | 5735 comments I seem to get a lot of 5s and 6s, but at least my next book works for a Birthday category.

message 233: by Sue (new)

Sue | 2713 comments Ohhh Lord of the Rings Risk sounds great - like we could have actual swords on the table.

And definitely ready for a flaming daiquiri or two. Great suggestion!

Hannah | 3288 comments KateNZ wrote: "Oh Anita, my roll lands me on #15 on my board. Does this trigger the random roll to see where I need to land?"

I’ve landed on spot 15 as well. I’m not sure exactly what the rules are. Do we read the book in spot 15 as well as being moved somewhere else on the board?

message 241: by NancyJ (new)

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11063 comments What a way to shake things up! Congrats to both of you.

I suppose 15 would be a wasted space if you didn’t read it first, but Anita will let you know soon.

Omg, so exciting that two of you landed on 15.

Yes, you do need to read the book first, but I will be back shortly with your randomizer results to show where you go next.

ETA: Oh, that's only for the Porter level. Ok, that's why I don't remember that "rule"! (And I will never manage that!)
