[DONE] Clean Up: Mark Notebooks / Journals as invalid
If the entire "author's" oeuvre is invalid, the author name can be changed to "NOT A BOOK", which will bulk change all the works to invalid status.
Oh, really? I didn't know that. Thanks for the advice. I will try it out.
Ok, it worked. But now I've reached the librian limit for today. And the notebook "authors" are endless. If someone wants to help with the clean up, you can search for "Notizbuch" in the Goodreads search bar (with fields to search: author). Almost every "author" there is invalid and needs to be changed into "NOT A BOOK". There are more than 100 pages...

So DIVORY Notizbuch becomes NOT A BOOK, do I also need to change the sort by name and shelf display name? Or only delete them?

Changing the author name to NOT A BOOK will merge everything into whatever NOT A BOOK has set. You don't need to worry about the old name any more.
I thought the NOTABOOK profile was reverted to the respective authors by Goodreads when the new procedure for merging/deleting came into effect?

The latest request to the Goodreads servers took too long to respond. We have been notified of the issue and are looking into it.

I've found when you get the "took too long" message, go back a page & do it again. Depending on how many books are on the author, it will take a few tries but eventually goes through. (I did DIVORY Notizbuch. Satisfying. But there are way too many of these "authors".)
I did it!Other search terms are: bullet journal, notebook A5 or A4, tagebuch, notitieboek, dagboek...
What are the search terms in other languages? LOL
Please check if the profile only contains empty notebooks.Coloring books are considered valid books.

thanks for your help! I don‘t know if you mean by „done“ that you have done everything, but there are still between 20k and 50k results with over 100+ pages if you search for „Notizbuch“ in the search bar. I‘ve reached the daily librarian limit again today.
My DONE means that I corrected my mistake with the colorbooks.Yesterday "notizbuch" gave me no more results and that's why I looked at other search terms. Like coloring book which apparently is a "book" after all.
And now I do have results back at "notizbuch". I'll just stick with that, haha.
But what is the librarian limit?
Oh ok, i wasn‘t sure. 😄I got an error message saying that i‘ve reached the limit of 3000 edits per day. They want to prevent spam bots with this or something.
I link below some "author" profiles that contain several hundred or even thousands of books and that have to be marked as "NOT A BOOK" or invalid. If Goodreads takes too long for this and the error message "Goodreads took too long..." appears, you simply have to refresh the page (e.g. with the f5 key) and the whole process will continue. For author profiles with several thousand books, you have to repeat this several times, because the page always times out after a while.

For 12) something weird happenend. I set it to "not a book" instead of "NOT A BOOK". So if you work on it further don't be confused.
you need to use the all caps - otherwise it's a new author profile (like always on that page with a differing capitalization :/ )

not sure if it's worth working on those notebooks to be honest.(have NABed a ton of them in the past (+ calendars) so it might be a bit frustration speaking...)
I sent a profile I came across to support to NAB it (they wouldn't run into the limit at least - I guess) but the answer was just that they are working on a solution to get them all properly NABed.
And no action on their part.
So if they don't care about the clutter at the moment I'll spent my time more useful with adding new records I guess.

How long has it been since you wrote with support? I also reported the notebook issue to support, but in my case it's only been a week.However, I have also noticed that the problem is getting bigger. The Amazon bot is importing new books every day. That's why I'm currently focusing on the "author" accounts that have a few thousand of these types of books.

Does anyone else have the problem that some of the links from #36 (e.g. 42) and 50) don't open anymore? It just loads forever until at some point you get the message "Goodreads request took too long." weird.

Please change the author name to "NOT A BOOK" in all capital letters to mark them as invalid. If you do not use capital letters, it will not work and you will just change the author name (without marking the books as invalid).
