It's Zinnia Gray's twenty-first birthday, which is extra-special because it's the last birthday she'll ever have. When she was young, an industrial accident left Zinnia with a rare condition. Not much is known about her illness, just that no one has lived past twenty-one.

Her best friend Charm is intent on making Zinnia's last birthday special with a full sleeping beauty experience, complete with a tower and a spinning wheel. But when Zinnia pricks her finger, something strange and unexpected happens, and she finds herself falling through worlds, with another sleeping beauty, just as desperate to escape her fate.

(view spoiler)[ I am not sure what to think of Zinnia, I like that she gives us a little back story regarding sleeping beauty, I sure didn't know one of the names sleeping beauty went by was Rose, I feel bad for Zinnia, she has a death sentence and has one more year. On her 21st birthday she pricks her finger on a spindle as a joke, and now we will see what happens! (hide spoiler)]

She was the first sleeping beauty and she got taken advantaged of by the prince, and now she is like the Evil Witch in every princess story. She tries to save the princesses but sometimes it doesn't work. I see what the blessing was, but at the same time, Primrose is right, she could've done something else besides making her sleep for so long. (hide spoiler)]

End of Ch. 7: Why is she in a dungeon? (view spoiler)[ because she is different? I hope Zin is able to help Primrose. I like that the Queen is coming to help Zin in order to save her daughter. I hope Prim doesn't marry the prince. (hide spoiler)]

Finished... I liked that everything (view spoiler)[ turned out well and that Primrose and Charm are together. I am so happy for Zin, she is not cured but she has more time and who knows she might find a cure where ever she ends up in her new journey. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I knew all the Sleeping Beauty names, at least the ones she mentioned and I am nicely surprised by it, I never put so many thoughts to this story, it wasn't one of my favorites for sure!

(view spoiler)[I thought this book was a longer one, but I am not complaining! And this is my first time with this author, and I really hope to enjoy it!
But so far I can't complain, the first two chapters were pretty good and, especially the first one, captivating. I was totally immersed in the story, and I think that Zinnia and Charm are a great pair! (I am not talking romantically here). (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I love how the curses turned in blessing. Sure, it's not the best blessing ever, but I get Zellandine, and I admire her strength and her willingness to help other girls in her situation.
And so far I am liking the characters, even if I would have loved to see more of Charm around! (hide spoiler)]

And there also a lot of food for thought in these pages, about love and hope and also about the way to approach the death of a loved one. It's interesting!

I'm liking Zinnia's voice, and after hearing the backstory to Sleeping Beauty I can understand her fascination with the story.

I agree that the opening sets up the characters and their interaction nicely. I like the modernisation of this - her voice sounds suitably snarky, but there are definite nods to the source story.

I'm listening on the audiobook - is Zellandine the character she knows as Primrose or have I missed something? I'm curious to see how her and Charm manage this incident.

It seems that Charm is going to be more important, though not necessarily to Zinnia's story.

It was quite different to what I expected.

Review on home page. Not what I expected and I do have some issues with it, but I like the concept of the series. Am I right in thinking that Zinnia features in all the books?
