I just started Murder in the Aisle originally published by the author’s actual name Kris Pearson which was changed to Kristie Klewes for this series. Since she’s still publishing romance novels using her actual/original name I suppose it’s to point out the different genre. Which one should I use for this challenge in such a case?

I think it's fair to use either one since she actually uses both names. If you want to be super technical you could go with what's printed on the book you're reading. But this is for your FUN so really I don't mind either way.

"Spell out PARTY POOPER" does this mean to spell it out in the title? or to spell it out by each book beginning with the letter?

It's a spell out where you need one book per letter of the words PARTY POOPER.
You can use the first letter of a title (using or omitting the A/An or The), or the author's first or last initial for each letter of the spell out. A lot of people start the spell out but then change to one of the other options if they find a book that fits.

Doing a spellout - you spelt energised with a Z - the American way - can I use an S instead of Z?

Hmmm. Marathons are supposed to be hard so I will have to say no. But there are lots of good Z options, like author Zane Grey or Zilpha Keatley Snyder to name just a couple. There is also Zoo or Zebra Forest or Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow or The Book Thief or The Shadow of the Wind or any on this list

We just got our thread so we're working on the first task. Just for clarification, we run the same race (task). Do we have to read the same book? If not, CAN we read the same one for the various tasks throughout when it works for us since we do a lot of buddy reads together?

For the task: read a book with the words No Way in the title or series name would a book with not instead of no work too - I was thinking of It's Not Supposed to Be This Way: Finding Unexpected Strength When Disappointments Leave You Shattered.

I wanted to check in case it works for you before I go for the spell-out option :-D

Task: read a book where shoelaces are mentioned

1. Would it work if bootlaces or a single shoelace are mentioned?

Would a book with any of the following quotes work:
2. Ian frozen, midway through tying his laces into a bow
3. Most shoes had something wrong with them (...) the laces had gone missing...
4. She snapped to attention and flutter-kicked until she could barely bend to tie her shoes.

How about the mention of the MC wearing
5. lace-up boots
6. lace up shoes

If none of those work it's fine. I have two where shoelaces are mentioned (though doubt I get to them in the next month and I love spell-outs if I'm too slow to get to those that would fit for sure :-D
