The first book in the final series of the world of The Realm of the Elderings. I have been a fan girl of Hobb since book 1, this book sealed that identity tight!

We meet some surprising new characters and in true Hobb style you begin to hate them, then like them, then hate them again. Fitz (now living as Holder Badgerlock) is in the countryside with the love of his life, staying away from the court of the King and living life his way. It was wonderful though to see Fitz so happy in his new world. Well, we all know that wasn't going to last too long. With each chapter the tension builds, the past comes rushing back, and retirement for Fitz has been put on hold.

A true Hobb cliffhanger and I anticipate books 2 and 3. However, I am having melancholy feelings about finishing them. The End-I am not sure I can take The End! It is rare that I re-read books, but something tells me when I close the final book for good that my mind is going to go there immediately.

A lot of readers said this book was "about nothing" WHAT??? I was taken in from the first chapter and fell asleep a few times with this tomb on top of me. Hobb's talent of writing characters is amazing and she deserves all the praise she has gotten for this series. My # 1 favorite author and series.
