Nancy and John had always been bike travel enthusiasts having pedaled across several foregin countries when they were newly married. Now, the proud parents of twin boys Davy and Daryl, they found themselves stuck in a rut in Idaho, teaching school, dealing with daycare, house issues and boring routines. They decided as a family it was time to pack up the bicycles and hit the road. John pedaled a three-seater while Nancy followed behind on a single. They would eventually cover 9300 miles in a year travelling through 19 US states and 5 Mexican states. Camping in a tent nearly every single night gave the family precious family time, even though, at times, there may have been a bit too much family time. Always at the mercy of Mother Nature and grueling treks up mountain passes, they were warmly touched by what they called "Road Angels", perfect strangers who offered shelter, food, friendship and encouragement. At the end of their journey they had all recognized the gift of family, the beauty of the country and a deep respect for the kindness of people.
