SOLVED. SciFi Short Story, Post Apocalypse 60s or 70s. Character named Snoo. Spoiler ahead. [s]

I read this in the late 60s or 70s. I think it was written by a well known SF author. There were a group of ragtag men trying to get into a fenced compound guarded by dogs. One of the men was called Snoo because he had a ragged shirt that had originally been a Snoopy from Peanuts one. They are trying to kidnap a young boy that lives in the compound. The fence around the compound is electrified and they somehow irritate the dog or dogs into leaping against it and getting killed and disabling the fence.
