Does anyone else have this problem? I borrowed the e-book from a library and it doesn’t have page numbers or chapters!
I can't help with that, as I have a paper copy with an index. There are titled sub-chapters that are not numbered even in the paper book, and the page numbers start high and count down.

Alexa Freeman wrote: "That would be fantastic! Thank you so much!"Sure thing! Turns out this book is completely bizarre because the pages go backwards anyways ! It looks to be about 50 pages. The first week's reading ends with a paragraph that starts :
After a moment of startled hesitation she, too, joins in with this wind that flies over the houses of Rohatyn...
Just remembered that we are due to start on Sunday and I haven't even started rereading yet, and I won't have much time today or tomorrow. I may need to kick off the first week's thread before doing the summary, and catch up some time next week.
Diane, I cleared the waitlist at my library so now have the hardback and don't need the chapter signals. The book is confusing enough in print. No wonder I couldn't follow on kindle without your help. I advise anyone who plans to read this as an e-book to get on a waitlist for a paper copy. Meanwhile, I don't need Diane's signals anymore, but if you ask nicely, she might provide them for you!
I have the Kindle edition and all the books and chapters are marked so no problem to follow Hugh's schedule. I hope to make a start tonight.
hehe I guess the person who checked it out before me gave up early so I just got the book today and am reading. Kindle copy has page numbers/chapters and so far so good.
I confess that I am having a hard time keeping track of the thread. Of course, that’s the nature of the book, following different strands at the same time. Still, I do wish she offered a list of characters! Maybe I’m reading too late at night but I find myself thinking that people’s names change. But maybe it’s just Jacob. I can see how reading a second time around would be a deeper experience. I do love the scenes even when the connections aren’t clear. Each change of location or perspective is perfectly crystallized.
It is hard to keep track of everything and to know which characters play important roles, but it is worth persisting, as it does get easier. I might consider making a list of the characters I have mentioned in the summaries, and maybe the places too.
That would be great! But let’s see if I’m the only one with this problem…I wouldn’t want you to do this just for one person.
