I'm really having trouble finding this book. I've looked for it already almost everywhere on the internet, so I just hope someone can help me.
So the book is written from several points of view at the beginning of the story, there is a scene with this guy who is described as a really ordinary person of no importance, he is at a party for his fiancée or girlfriend who is called Joanna (I don't know if the spelling is correct) and she's a lawyer. in fact it wasn't really a party, it was more of a gala evening since I remember that there were classical musicians in the room and more specifically a pianist.
After this scene, I remember another scene where the serial killer kills a girl after raping her in a dark alley. I remember him killing at specific times maybe always at night and on other specific conditions but I don't really remember those conditions clearly.
Then there is a scene with the detective investigating the case, thinking about the serial killer, I think he's in a bar with someone else, or he met this someone else directly there I'm not sure.
After that we change point from the first guy who happens to be an artist, a sculptor, he had 5 sculptures in a room in his house and he was working on another sculpture.
I also remember this other point of view with a young girl living with her grandmother I think who was the target of the killer. The girl was really carefree and decided to go out late to meet her friends or go to a party. I remember her wearing thigh high boots and really revealing clothes. But the same night, the serial killer tried to attack her before she left her house. There was a garden in their house, a garden in which there were washing lines for drying clothes. among this laundry there were underwear of the girl and I think the killer stole the underwear and I think he did it with his other victims as well. But the police had predicted by means that I don't remember that he would be there. Then begins a chase between the detective and other police officers and the killer who we had not really seen, just his build.
I think the detective knew the artist and went to his house, and when he discovered the 5 human sculptures he was keeping. considering that there were 5 murders, he directly sees the guys as a suspect which is verified at the very end of the story.
I read this story in 2016 but I think the story is much older since my dad only had old books.
I really hope someone will help me because this book keeps haunting me.
