Alternate: Author uses their middle name/initial (e.g. Robert J. Sawyer, Rita Mae Brown)

Book: The Omega Strain by Steve P. Vincent
How It Fits: Uses middle initial
Rating: 4 stars
Review:
This is a short thriller where the assassin main character Mitch Herron is infected with a bioweapon and is in a race against time before that bioweapon activates and ruins the world. Lots of action and entertaining to read. It did feel a bit rushed, but that was probably expected since the book's quite short.

I did forgot why I don't read love triangles and this book reminded me. Layla is undecided between Roth and Zayne. And unlike the first book which was more centered towards Roth, this book is about Zayne. Obvious because I read the first book in the spin-off series The Harbinger I know who she stays with and I was not so pleased with certain scenes in this book...but I finished it because I want to read the next book, the conclusion (and then continuing with the Harbinger series)

84 + 7 = 91
The alternate is for 91. Asia.
This question is mainly for both R-wka & Eunice since they are reading the alternates. Is that gonna be too hard for you to do? We could use 1 of our bonus points to move to 92 . That alternate would probably be easier.
92. MC is in their 20's which
Which do you want to do?
Either way, you're past 90, so don't forget you can claim the bonus points for no alternates/all alternates now! :)

Nice! Thanks for the reminder, Denise.

I'm OK with both. But 92 looks more simple

One point can be earned for reading three or more books in a series
Did anyone read at least 3 books in same series to earn it?

I could have sworn we did. I'll look into it

Good catch R-wka. I fucked AGAIN. Evidently, I forgot that Bonus when I was asking for who wanted to do what bonus tasks. So, no we don't have that Bonus Task done. I went thru the post & we don't have it done. I have 2 post done of a series & will do another one with my roll this week. I just need to make sure rereads are OK. If they are, we're good. If not, I'm screwed.

Thank you!

Girls, Thank you for taking another one for the team. Believe me, I'm so sorry I left this one off. The one I have to read, I was dreading starting today. Don't get me wrong, it's a good book but, damn, it's 494 pages. Kristen Ashley does not write a normal size book. I did #3 & #4 & its the only series I did 2 books of. If I knew it would work out, I'd read the next 2 books of a different series, but I don't wanna take that chance & screw us out of a win. I don't care about the win much, but I know some do.

Book: In Her Sights by Robin Perini
How it fits: #1 in Montgomery Justice
Date finished: 09 Apr 2023
Rating: 3 stars
Review:
I really liked this book, but I wanted it to be longer.
I really liked how this book was written when it comes to the plot. You find out pieces of Jasmine’s past throughout the book, and at the same time you slowly see more scenes told from the killer’s POV and find out more about them. However, due to the nature of the plot, you don’t see much of Jasmine doing her job, and the story Luke was investigating wasn’t finished either.
I liked Jasmine and Luke, but I wanted to see more scenes at the end, or before things got so hectic, showing their relationship. I liked how clearly it was shown that Jasmine and Luke had a past.
There were some side characters, but I wanted to see more scenes with them, and how Jasmine and Luke would interact with them, especially Luke’s family.
I really liked this book, but I wanted to see more about the characters. I want to continue with this series, which I’m assuming that there will be more about Luke’s story.

Dream Man Series

Review ~ Re-Read & still 5*

God, The Great MM is so McDreamy...

Him & Tack are McDreamy & McSteamy.

I really do Love my Dream Men. The only one I wasn't super impressed with was

But Now Hawke, Mitch & Tack,

Remember, we can roll tonight @ midnight if all the reviews are done. I'll try to stay up to do it. But Eunice, if you are the last to do the review & wanna roll after midnight, go for it.
For THIS WEEK ROLL
You can read for a #1, #9 or Asian. You don't have to stick to the alternate or number.
The 1st team to cross the line @ 100 or over & has reviews done wins. We have 91 + our 6 bonus points so all we need is a 3+ on our dice roll. We are tied with Team #9 at the moment. So if you care about winning, you might could post so the team knows to rally.
I'm good either way as I am more about meeting the challenge & working on my series reads. I am currently reading a #1 right now.
AFTER OUR ROLL
For the 100+ read we know we can read a book for standalone or a #1. It can even be a short book as long as it's over 140 pages.
Just a reminder that
✸ Re-reads are NOT ALLOWED ( no re-reads to win)
✸ Page limit: min. 140 pages

The Crow Trap
4/13/23
#1 in the Vera series
Review:
I read this book because of the TV series Vera. I was disappointed Vera doesn’t show up until about half way through the book. I didn’t really care for the other characters in the book. The 2nd book in the series has a higher rating so I will give the series another go.

Review
I don't know why but this book seemed too long for me. I couldn't resonate with the characters, especially the little girl. And neither with Natasha, I hardly see feelings in her. Only good thing in book was the house, and for the hourse I finished the book.

Book: A Lady's Guide to Etiquette and Murder by Dianne Freeman
How it fits: #1 in Countess of Harleigh series
Date finished: 13 Apr 2023
Rating: 5
Review:
There's something about historical mysteries that I adore, and this one was no different. It had a good balance of aristocratic bullcrap, complex socializing, and mystery and deduction. The multiple plot elements in this book come together to make an entertaining plot that carefully manipulated and wove these elements together into a mystery full of twists and turns.
The MC Frances is an American socialite who married to a count, becoming Countess of Harleigh, but became a widow at 27. Her husband was thought to have died of natural causes but a year later, the police suspect that she might have murdered him. On top of that, valuable accessories have been going missing from multiple aristocratic households, and Frances' sister Lily is coming over to London to find a suitable husband. This may seem to be a bit too stacked, but I think the author executed it well.

Quick reminder: Must be over 100, winning spots are 101 and up! :)"
Thx Denise. I need to read some rules instead or relying on my faulty memory.

There were parts that were fire & there were parts that were a little boring to me. I really liked the flirting. The sex scenes were really hot. I really liked the flirting. The sex scenes were really hot.

Their love story was also great. I don't know what about it that was just Meh to me. I didn't relate to the characters may have been part of it.

I did love how I did love how Kieran went all out to show Celeste the seedier spots & give her her hearts desire.

I especially love how he (view spoiler)

I'm very curious about what happened between Dom & Willa. I do have 2 theories. But I can't imagine either of them actually being the culprit.

Between those two & Finn, I will be reading the rest of the series, I just won't be dying to read it soon.

“How do you stop a demon invasion… when you don’t believe in magic?” I enjoyed this fun book. It has fairies, dwarfs , demons and humans … what is not to like. I will be reading the 2nd one. This book only had a 3.5 rating, usually I don’t read anything lower than a 3.9. I may have to change that.

Book: Killing Sarai by J.A. Redmerski
How it fits: #1 in In the Company of Killers
Date finished: 15 Apr 2023
Rating: 2 stars
Review:
This book was fine, but it was so slow.
The plot was interesting, but the way it was written made it drag.
Sarai and Victor were fine, but they didn’t have much personality.
While the plot is interesting and I would want to find out what happens next, I don’t think I’m going to continue with the series because it dragged and felt like it was never going to end. The fact that the characters didn’t seem to have any personality also makes me not want to read the next book.

Book: Seaside Secrets by Cindy Bell
How it fits: #1 in Dune House Mystery Series
Date finished: 15 Apr 2023
Rating: 3
Review:
A short cozy mystery featuring two ladies in their 50s, one of them being an investigative reporter. I don't really have anything to say about it other than that it was fun while it lasted, and I'd like to see where the series will lead, specifically with Suzie and Mary getting used to Garber town.

Book: Amy Snow by Tracy Rees
How it fits: Standalone
Date finished: 15 Apr 2023
Rating: 5⭐
It was a light book. I just enter the story and liked instantly. Is my first book by this author and didn't know what to except.
Altrough there wasn't much action and the mystery was weak, I personally enjoin the show paced story. Or better I can say that was the best for my mod this weekend.
