Peter Morganstern, Nick’s boss, heads the special unit and is a psychologist. He and the profiler assigned to the case, George Walker, share lots of information about the “unsub.” What conclusions did you form at the time? Were you able to develop any theories about his motives?

[Robin]

The only conclusion I made was that the killer wanted attention. He taped the conversation and made sure the police knew about it.

[Anita]

I got the feeling that this was about revenge, either on Tommy or Laurent. The unsub wanted this to be as much psychological torture as possible.

I also suspected revenge, but I wasn't sure how Tommy or Laurent fit.

The killer has issues with women and he wanted Tommy to suffer/worry for his sister's life

They confirmed that the threat was credible, male and someone with whom he had a connection to. I was still thinking the target was Tommy so I was focused on his relationships. I still didn’t think Laurant was the target.
