Robin Hatcher (robinleehatcher) | 21 comments I was contacted by an author who tried to change title and cover and ended up with two of the same book/same ASIN. I did a couple of fixes for her, but the truth is, it is the same edition. Either I don't have the ability to merge into one edition or I simply don't know how. Here is the link to the book with the Nov. 29, 2022 pub date (the actual pub date). https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...

The other edition which is the same has a pub date of 1/1/23 as the author tried to make her changes. If someone can help with that, the author would really appreciate it.

David Raz (davidraz) | 12797 comments I'm trying to reconstruct what actually happened here, please help me.

As the logs show, the ASIN used to belong to a book called "Surprises in All Sizes: Secret Babies" by Jean Brashear, with a cover that I now restored: Surprises in All Sizes Secret Babies by Jean Brashear .

If I understand correctly, the ASIN was reused, and it now belongs to something else: a box set with the title "Surprises in All Sizes" and the authors are Jean Brashear , Day Leclaire, Karen Sandler, Debra Salonen, Linda Barrett, Holly Jacobs, Barbara McMahon, Lisa Mondello.

Is my understanding correct? If so than I shall make the necessary edits. Please don't replace covers of existing books, this is against policy.

Robin Hatcher (robinleehatcher) | 21 comments It is exactly the same book with exactly the same ASIN. The second edition was added because the authors ditched the original cover with the man's bare chest, but they couldn't seem to get rid of it. The original cover was taken off of Amazon as well as it wasn't a good cover for the book. The title and book and ASIN never changed. Only the cover changed. The restored cover is the one they wanted to get rid of because it isn't on the book.

David Raz (davidraz) | 12797 comments Great, then the situation is even simpler.

Getting rid of cover is against policy. The only case a where cover will be removed is placeholder covers that were never available for sale. Please don't remove covers in the future.

I added all the other authors and the description.

The author can set the default edition by following these instructions.
