Deputy Oscar is assigned to stay with Owen Thorpe and later shares with him information about Holly that was speculative at the scene, declaring she’d committed suicide. Was he that clueless or just a pattern of sloppiness from prior leadership? What did you make of his reaction when Bree admonished and wrote him up for the infraction? Is he salvageable?

I had my hopes up that Oscar had learned his lesson in the last book, but that does not seem to have happened.

He is a sloppy cop and there are signs he will be a vindictive one as well.

[Robin]

He doesn't seem to learn his lessons. I believe he thinks he knows more than the Sheriff and wants to do things his own way. I'm not sure that he is salvageable.

I agree, Lauren. His attitude shows that he may do something in the future to put Bree in her place.

He was 50-50 with me until he lost his cool when Bree called him and admonished him for his really dumb behavior. She was extremely professional about it, too. I’m with Lauren about not being able to trust him to have her back.

Robin, I thought he’d learned his lesson. The old Sheriff King wasn’t big on following policies and procedures. Oscar doesn’t seem ready to embrace them.

Yes, he learned his lesson from his old boss.

I hoped his allegiance would turn to Bree, but he always seemed too indoctrinated by King. I never trusted him fully.
