LC Cardadeiro | 232 comments Ok I got my book and finished the first 9 chapters. It’s good, really good! It’s a quick read too. I’ll probably finish before 4 weeks. Anyway, I’ll let you all catch up then we can chat about it.

Anna A. Lane (annaalane) | 119 comments Wow Laurette! You dove right in! Hearing you excited makes me excited. Hope to read the first chapter tonight!

Lena (madworld) | 232 comments I like it too, though I'm only on chapter 3 :D

Stacey | 8 comments This is a fun read! I'm really enjoying the main character -she has just the right amount of sass. I agree, it is a quick read. I just finished the first 9 chapters.

message 9: by LC (new) - rated it 5 stars

LC Cardadeiro | 232 comments I might’ve finished the book, lol. I’m under storm watch so been inside. It was so good! Can’t wait to read what everyone thinks. Also, I learned I like reading about gym stuff oddly, hah! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lisa | 3 comments This is a cute read, i loved the message it sends as well

Nicky W. (Bookstacks_and_Coffeecups) | 59 comments I finished the first nine chapters and am enjoying it so far. It’s a very easy read. I like the characters and I like that the author reverses stereotypes like when she says her Irish side isn’t overly boisterous unlike her Chinese side.
It’ll be interesting to see where the author takes the characters. I enjoy the gym setting but am interested to see them outside of that as well.

Lena (madworld) | 232 comments I finished the chapters too. Really quick, enjoyable one:)
One thing that confuses/irritates me: what is Scott apologizing for? He hasn't done anything... Or did I miss something?

message 13: by LC (new) - rated it 5 stars

LC Cardadeiro | 232 comments I'm trying to remember. Honestly they apologize a lot to each other throughout the book. Just a lot of assuming and trying to be vulnerable and figure things out.

LC Cardadeiro | 232 comments This is a series with a 2nd book if anyone wants to read it.

Anna A. Lane (annaalane) | 119 comments It took me a while, but I finished the chapters. I like Crystal and Scott. I do feel for Crystal that her own family doesn’t seem to believe in her or finds her self confidence unjustified… your face is pretty. I don’t know, feels like a reversed compliment.

Whenever I have time or energy I pick it back up and read further.

Would love to read the second book.

LC Cardadeiro | 232 comments Yeah that’s gotta suck with the constant nagging of her job. It seemed profitable and sustainable to me

Nicky W. (Bookstacks_and_Coffeecups) | 59 comments I agree. She has a great platform and is reaching people and it’s leading to a profitable coaching career for herself so I found it funny that her family isn’t more supportive; but I think that’s realistic for many influencers since most older generations don’t understand the impact social media platforms have on commerce and marketing trends etc.

Tyree | 1 comments I’m definitely adding this to my list! So happy to join this group! 🤩🫶🏽

Lena (madworld) | 232 comments I've finished chapters for this week. The loudest thought that comes to my mind is that Scotty is a very patient man... And Crystal playing hard to get when she's obviously just stalling became a tiny bit annoying.

Anyway, I think that being an influencer is a bit of an abstract concept for anyone who's not active on social media, especially our parents or grandparents, so it doesn't surprise me that her family isn't very supportive. I bet most perents would prefer their child to become a doctor/chef/whatever rather than a succesful instagrammer, even though the latter might bring them higher profit, lol.
That being said, I really like the content that Crystal is creating and it's easy to understand why an account like that would attract lots of followers.

Caydee (ktlw) | 2 comments I read the whole book in a few days, love it and reading the 2nd book - exes and o's.
Story has a great message.

Nicky W. (Bookstacks_and_Coffeecups) | 59 comments I finished up the book as well. I enjoyed everything about it except the actual romance. I loved Crystal and Scott both, I enjoyed their dynamic and banter especially in the early days when they were “enemies “ but I just didn’t feel their chemistry.
I think maybe it’s because the author sort of glossed over the early parts of their dating. It was referenced that they did stuff together but they sort of just went from “you’re forgiven “ to “I must jump into bed with you”
Overall though I did like the book enough to read the next one.

message 22: by LC (new) - rated it 5 stars

LC Cardadeiro | 232 comments That’s a good point. I felt like this was a very young first relationship. There were a lot of issues with trust and playing the game of I’m mad but do you really want to be with me still. Idk how to explain it but there was so much drama created from trust issues.

Stacey | 8 comments I also finished the book and really liked it. I felt the romance was a little rushed in parts. I would have loved just a little more time spent on their relationship- I wanted more witty conversations between those two :). Also the story was sort of predictable at times. Other than that, it was very enjoyable and the ending was great.

Nicky W. (Bookstacks_and_Coffeecups) | 59 comments Yes that’s it, it felt rushed and the more banter the better! There text threads were funny but then there was none of that when they we’re actually together.

I did forget to mention though that I did love her “grand gesture “ at the end

Lena (madworld) | 232 comments I've been catching up today.
While I liked Crystal and Scott, the 2nd half of the book felt like 500 pages to me. I was enjoying their texts and banter, but whenever they were together in real life I just felt like skimming through the scenes.
In the beginning, I thought it was going to be a good one, but when I picked it up after 2 weeks of break, it didn't hold the same appeal.
I actually found it boring and didn't enjoy the 2nd half at all.
Crystal's behaviour was so immature at times! I didn't understand why she got mad at Scott for posting that 1st comment - business reasons aside, how could she not see his good intentions? Why should he stay quiet when people were disrespecting someone he loved and himself? And leave him like that after he told her that he loved her? That was so cruel. And absolutely selfish.
No, I don't think I can say that I liked this book :(

message 26: by LC (new) - rated it 5 stars

LC Cardadeiro | 232 comments It was definitely like these ppl had never been in a relationship before, especially her. The way she acted was very immature and got to be annoying! So I agree

message 27: by Lena (new) - rated it 2 stars

Lena (madworld) | 232 comments Yeah, I mean I liked her personality and her Instagram account - what she stood for, but her actions seemed very immature...
