Someone is killing prominent environmental activists. When one of those murders occurs in the land that game warden, Joe Pickett, oversees he finds himself protecting more than wildlife. This was a fun mystery/thriller set in an interesting setting. I like Joe and the author examines interesting issues surrounding natural resources and the environment from a variety of perspectives. There was a significant part of the story where characters were being tracked through the wilderness and had to survive the bad guy as well as the elements. I found myself losing interest during this segment, as I was more interested in investigating the murder than wilderness survival stories. This is an individual taste thing though, and it was well done for those that enjoy that type of story. Overall it was a good mystery and I will definitely continue with the series.

I really like this series. If you do audio the narrator, David Chandler, is excellent. I have #23 Storm Watch on preorder right now. I recently started his Highway Quartet and that's been good so far.
