I recently wont this book through the Goodreads First Reads program. From the reviews, I saw it could be taken as a standalone. I expect a good thriller.

As I write this, I'm about halfway through with the book. There is some Western terminology that I'm unfamiliar with, but it doesn't take away from the story. I'm not going to lie, I'm really enjoying this book so far.

I adored this book. It's not a thriller; it only has suspense for the last 50 pages or so (of a 400 page book), but it's wonderful. The author pulls the reader in and doesn't let you go until you're done. I highly recommend.
