Cristiana Moyer I am currently reading The Inquisitor's Tale by Adam Gidwitz. It is historical fantasy, so not usually what I read, but I am loving it! He clearly has a rich knowledge of medieval France, and his writing skill and characters are excellent.

A decent historical story, but I expected far more. The title generates very different expectations.

A complicated storyline in this historical suspense, and a slow pace. But I still liked it.

Rosh ~catching up slowly~ (roshreviews) | 401 comments Luminous: The Story of a Radium Girl by Samantha Wilcoxson
Luminous The Story of a Radium Girl by Samantha Wilcoxson
An indie novel focussing on the life story of Catherine Donohue, the woman who filed a suit against Radium Dial for not letting its employees know about the harm caused by radium. The book goes a bit overboard on faith-related elements, bit it contains a heartbreaking story that is a must-read.

Lee-Anne These Violent Delights (These Violent Delights, #1) by Chloe Gong I'm reading Chloe Gong's These Violent Delights. I think it's supposed to be a mix of YA fantasy and historical fiction and is set in Shanghai in the 1920s. I find that time in Chinese history absolutely fascinating and am enjoying the book a lot so far.

It's again an indie work. I read a lot of indie fiction, so you might not find them in your library, which is very sad. This book deserves a wider audience. :/

Tiziana | 120 comments Cristiana wrote: "That series looks really interesting, Tiziana!"

It is if you like medieval setting, detection and action well mixed together .
I had already read Father Cadfael and Owen Archer by 2 well-known authors, E. Peters and Candace Robb, and I liked them a lot, but I find this series really really amazing.
The author manages to transport me exactly to those places with those people.
Obviously everything is subjective, the series is great to me and to my tastes, but of course it may not be the right one for others.
