Rachel (mimbza) | 74 comments The Redgum River Retreat by Sandie Docker The Redgum River Retreat is a dual timeline historical fiction by Sandie Docker set in Tasmania in the 1940s and contemporary times. It deals with the wartime Snapshots from Home project, selective mutism and the healing power of music. Here is my review

PattyMacDotComma | 1305 comments I've enjoyed several of Amazon's Original Stories, this one in particular. The Scenic Route is by Christina Baker Kline. A woman tells us why she took to the road in a small van, because staying put was destroying her. Good short read.
The Scenic Route by Christina Baker Kline My review of The Scenic Route

If you're a NetGalley reviewer, the story will be archived on Sept 15.

Red Hail by Jamie Killen
The first half of this indie book creeped me out. The second half was quite good as well. A scifi mystery-thriller about a mysterious plague.

It is interesting but it is in short snippets (so far) from many points of view and I am finding it a bit confusing.

Tiziana | 120 comments I'm reading the 2nd installment of "Crispin Guest" medieval noir series :
Serpent in the Thorns Serpent in the Thorns (Crispin Guest, #2) by Jeri Westerson by Jeri Westerson, it's a very engaging mystery set in 14th century London.

I just finished 2 days ago to read the first one and I fell in love with this series, it offers historical background, + historical relics story-legend + some action and also some fun with ironic lines.
Veil of Liesis the first one of the series, but you can read each book as a standalone.

Children's author Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara doesn't shy away from the divorce and bulimia - unusual for a children's picture book - but focuses on her well-known kindness to all.
