Applejaxc | 1003 comments The illusion finally ended for Theodore when Nexon's chest erupted before falling down.
"Just stay low and we'll keep you safe," the woman told them. Safety Net drew the pistol from his hip and gave it to Theodore. "I know you'll make good use of it if you have to." Then he whirled, placed his elbows on the hood of a car, and returned fire until their driver made it safely to their cover. "Come on. There's a black sedan at the other end of the garage," which was at least a hundred feet away.

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė Aria gasped when Nexon fell down and she quickly looked away before she saw anything. She was biting her lip and closing her eyes as she did so. Then, the woman talked to them and she tried to focus again on keeping herself down. Safety Net handed Theodore his gun and kept shooting at the enemies and she thought that she would much rather have an experienced shooter using the gun, unless Theodore also knew how to shoot a gun. After a minute of more loud shooting, they were told that they were going to move and she highly doubted that she would be able to go that hundred feet fastest enough since she would panic.

Applejaxc | 1003 comments Theodore turned to her. He put a hand on her shoulder and, after a moment of study, deactivated the weapon's safety. "Come on. I'm right behind you." There were almost enough cars to shield them to the other end of the garage, but two open spaces had him worried, and even then they'd have to find the other vehicle before they were found. "I've made it out of worse.'

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė Aria felt someone's hand on her shoulder and looked to see whose it was. She was surprised to find that it was Theodore's. She listened and nodded at what he said and got ready to run even though she didn't want to. Either way, she would have to get away at some point otherwise she and the others would be in danger.

message 105: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments He saw her tense. "Do not run. Stay down. If you stand, the cars aren't going to help you."
The men from the truck had retreated behind two different vehicles to hide. "Alright, go!" Safety Net urged them; the Driver started moving sideways along their route.

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė Aria breathed out and leaned back glad that she didn't have to run. She would just get the other hurt. She looked up as Safety Net and the others started to move. She took a deep breath before following the others with the car. She knew that it would work since the others were good at doing this type of thing.

Applejaxc | 1003 comments (I'm sorry if the story is super one-sided right now)

Theodore was on her heels; Safety Net and the woman remained behind, determined to make their escape safe. Most shots from either side weren't so much as targeted as blind attempts to make the other hide.

It was a tense minute of creeping along cars, interrupted by a dash between a box truck and a delivery van, before the fire died down. "Surrender now and the Tsung will show you mercy!" the offer came between a thick Chinese accent.
"Like Hell! Xiang plus forte!"
The driver stopped abruptly, holding up his hand. The garage was an L-shape, with the smaller line turning to their left. They were at the corner; the driver pressed himself against it, then peered around, ready for hostiles. "...looks clear to me. The car's actually parked in an alley across the street, keys in the glove box." There was a door adjacent a stairwell, twenty feet away. "Ready? Go." Theodore stood, hand still on Aria's shoulder, pushing her in the doors direction. The driver turned to perhaps assist in the escape of his still-living companions, but found only more enemies maneuvering to strike them.

"RUN!"

Theodore didn't see, but very well heard, the exchange of fire a foot behind them and the painful yelps and gurgling of their driver at least one of their enemies. "Get to the door!"

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė Aria was trying to run fastest enough like the others and it was working. She kept flinching at the shots fired in the air. Soon though, the firing stopped and she breathed out a sigh of release but then she heard the enemies yelling and tensed again. Aria didn't believe them about showing mercy. But then, they were going to run again and she was getting ready like the others and she felt Theodore's hand on her shoulder which helped. As they were about to escape, there were more enemies. She groaned and ran like they heard but not before she heard the people getting hit with the bullets.

(its fine)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments Theodore edged past her and struck the door's rectangular locking mechanism (fire doors don't really have knobs, do they?) with his arm and spilled out onto the concrete behind it. A few more feet to the sidewalk, then across the street, was the described vehicle, a red Camaro-looking car.
Theodore rolled onto his back and sat up. He waited for her to pass safely behind him before raising his pistol. He kept it trained on the door as he got back to his feet, and then as he half-stumbled backwards in the alley's direction. "I assume you know how to drive?"

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė Aria followed Theodore and when they got through the door she saw the car that was there. She sighed when she didn't see any enemies. Then, she waited for Theodore when she saw that he was raising his gun. After he started going to the alley she started to walk again. Then she said, "Yeah, I know how to drive. Where are we going?" She wanted to get away from the people that were firing at them but didn't know if they would find them again.

message 111: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments "...I hadn't thought that far." He opened the passenger-side door. "Anywhere but here?"

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė "Good plan," she said climbing into the drivers seat and starting the car.

message 113: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments He closed his door, locked it, then buckled. "Do you have somewhere you want to go?"

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė "Not really since we are in another state," she said as she started to drive down the road.

message 115: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments "Have you never been to Idaho?" Theodore studied the pistol again to discover how to reengage the safety. "I have. But not this city."

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė "I have never been here before. So I have no idea about anything," Aria said quickly glancing over when he was playing with the gun.

message 117: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments (I'm sorry. I really felt like I had better ideas when you mentioned Inkheart. I'm not sure what I want to do-are we going to make it they've been in a fictional setting since they left the convention hall?)

Theodore wasn't playing with it, it just wasn't a type he'd seen before and he wasn't sure what the safety was. "They grow potatoes. Competes with Washington to export to Asia. Simon the Templar is from Boise."

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė Aria had known that there were potatoes grown in Idaho but not any of the facts that he had said. Either way she kept driving the car to who knows where.

(I'm not really sure what to do, maybe it could be in a fictional setting)

message 119: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments (If you feel like this is starting to waste your time, let me know. I'm afraid if I break from reality too much you won't like the change)

"...you want to stop for dinner?" Theodore pointed. "There's a McDonalds down there."

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė "Sure," Aria said as she figured out a way to get out of traffic and pull in. She parked in a spot and got out of the car.

(Maybe we shouldn't then. We can just keep doing what we're doing)

message 121: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments (I don't know what to do otherwise)

Theodore hadn't expected her to be as comfortable eating as he was right after a near-death experience. Regardless, he tucked the pistol into the back of his waistband and covered it with his shirt. "Do you have cash on you?"

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė Aria was hungry since after she gets nervous, she is very hungry. She quickly gets out of the car and goes to the side that Theodore is on. Aria said, "I think that I do. Let me look." She looks in her purse, which she miraculously still has, and pulls out her money.

message 123: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments "Good." Theodore also had money on his person, but was more than willing to keep that fact to himself.

It was late enough that the fast food business was near-empty. They were able to order immediately. As they waited for their food, one of the TVs mounted near the door (which had been playing an expose on oil refinement or somesuch other nonsense) flicked to breaking news:

"...it has not been confirmed yet, but we believe the shooting near the Secwater Convention Hall is indeed related to the ensuing gunbattle in this downtown parking garage..."

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė Aria walked into the fast food restaurant and she ordered a hamburger with fries and a bottle of water. They sit down and Aria seaw the TV that was hanging. She started to watch it and she saw that the story it was covering got interupted with breaking news about shooting. She looked at the pictures and was glad to see that none of them had her in it but they showed the van and the guy that was going to shoot them.
"Do you think that they are going to find out that we were there?" she asked Theodore worriedly.

message 125: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments (You don't have to summarise everything if you aren't adding new detail to it)

Theodore shrugged. A police officer yelled at the reporter and his crew, telling them it was too dangerous to film from literally across the street from the shooting. According to the talking heads when the station turned its focus to its studio, there was no clue as to how many were involved in the fight, or its motivation.
"Did you have a panel or anything tonight? No one was expecting me, so I have no reason to be worried."

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė (I don't really know what to add)

"No, I don't but I didn't know if they would find us here," she answered worried. Aria didn't want to get found by the enemies but she didn't want to get pulled back into by Safety Net and the others who said that they would help them. She looked around the place paranoid at the thought.

message 127: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments "I'm sure anyone who has misjudged me enough as someone worth going to all this trouble to kill, has also misjudged my irrationality in choosing to stop at a Mac-Donalds instead of running all night."

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė "You're probably right," Aria said with a smile since she hadn't thought about the fact that they were sitting in a very public restaurant. She calmed down and waited for their food to get there since she was very hungry.

message 129: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments Eventually, their number was called. Theodore stood to get it, then came back with their bag on a tray with ketchup in small, paper cups. After giving her her food, he dumped his fries on his place mat and ate them first. "So. Not a salad person?"

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė Aria smiled and said, "I probably should be since its more healthy but I could never quit meat." To emphasize this she took a large bite of her hamburger before saying, "Its too good." She put her hamburger down and took some of her fries.

message 131: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments Theodore was unabashed about eating his fries four or five at a time, the top-half covered in ketchup. "Just, y'know. Romance author. Figured you'd be the cat-loving, green-eating, prius-driving type."

message 132: by ☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ (last edited Mar 16, 2015 12:56PM) (new)

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė Aria opened her mouth in fake offense before smiling. She said, "Well, I did have a cat once but I'm more of a dog type of girl. Anyway, you shouldn't judge people with stereotypes." She how many french fries Theodore was eating and she tried to do that too, without the ketchup.

message 133: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments "It's kept me alive so far." Theodore shrugged. "Gut feelings can get you pretty far. Like the first guy to almost shoot us tonight. I knew he was bad news. I just... didn't know how bad."

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė Aria thought about it for a second before saying, "Thats probably. My mom always used to say to me about school that the first answer is most likely correct and to not doubt it."

message 135: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments "My mother always said 'L’habit ne fait pas le moine', and that my dad was too racist."

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė "What does that mean? Is it french?" she asked him since it sounded like it.

message 137: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments "...oui." He smiled in the way that a child with a secret might. "Ma mère est de France. So. I've learned to parle a lot."

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė Aria smiled back still not knowing what it meant. She saw his face though and didn't ask again not knowing if she really wanted to.

message 139: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments "My mom is a first-generation French immigrant."

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė "My parents were from here so they never spoke interesting languages," she said.

message 141: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments "English is plenty interesting. Polysyndeton, anaphora, portmanteaus, and whatnot." Theodore shrugged as he ate the last of his fries, then unwrapped his burger. "Didn't you take a foreign language in Highschool?"

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė "Yeah but it was spanish. After I fulfilled the requirements I stopped taking it since I was going to be a writer and didn't think that I would need it," she said. She was still eating her french fries since she had ate her burger.

message 143: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments "So, you decide to go into the Romance field, and you don't try to learn a Romance language? You didn't throw in a Hotzpa or Montegro or anything?"

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė "I started to learn spanish in middle school and didn't want to start over in a different language," she said defending herself and her decision.

message 145: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments "Right, but you didn't have a Spaniard sweep your damsel off her feet? Even I understand the value of polylinguality in... other... lingual activities."

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė "I haven't seen one yet no," she said to him. After a minute she finished the food and leaned back satisfied at the food that she had eaten.

message 147: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments "Then what the mercredi is your book about?"

☆ ĄňŊǡƂėƮĦ ☆ ŞŧŎŋė "Its about a prince who gets kidnapped and a poor local girl finds him in the other kingdom. She manages to trick the enemies about who she is and helps him escape. The girl can't leave her family so the prince, who had fallen in love with her, wants her to come but he has to return. He looks for her later and sees that her family got sick and died. He goes to her and takes her back to the castle. Then they get married," she quickly summarized.

message 149: by Applejaxc (new)

Applejaxc | 1003 comments "...huh." Theodore decided not to comment as he wiped his mouth with a napkin. "Well. We should probably get out of here and figure something out."

Applejaxc | 1003 comments (Hey. There's this other RP I'm in, kind of a mid-fantasy European adventure/exploration/class-and-race struggle story that's a big deal to me. There's 1 other person in it but we aren't super far into the story. If you're interested I can drop you a link)
