Looking for help to find comparative titles for my upcoming children's book. It is an animal adventure story aimed at young competent readers 6-9years old. It's quite text heavy (17000 words, some illustrations), and written from the view of a black kitten that gets lost in a forest. The animals talk but otherwise have no special abilities or magic. The stories compare to E.B. White's stories like Charlotte's web or a lighter not so dark version of WatershipDown by Richard Adams. The story is written from the point of view of a kitten, not dissimilar to the Warrior cats by Erin Hunter but again aimed at slightly younger readers so without the darker content of those books. Of the more current books I found, Ernie by James Sutherland, written from the point of view of a scruffy dog and Midnight at the shelter by Stevenson are the closest I found as comparative titles, but again aimed at slightly older readers. I would be grateful for suggestions of current animal adventure books aimed at 6-9 year olds, with no magic or special abilities, apart from the ability to talk to each other. There must be tons of books out there and I am looking forward to finding them with your help hopefully. Eagerly awaiting your suggestions. Thanks for your help JK Keane
