M | 11617 comments You have until January 15 to post a story, and from January 16-22 we’ll vote for which one we thought was best!

Please post directly into the topic and not a link. Please don’t use a story previously used in this group. Only one submission per person is allowed.

Your story should be between 300 and 3,500 words long.

REMEMBER! A short story is not merely a scene. It must have a beginning, a middle, and an end.

This week’s topic is: Broken Resolutions.

The rules are pretty loose. You could write a story about anything that has to do with the subject/photo but it must relate to the topic somehow.

Most of all have fun!

M | 11617 comments Dennis, you’re in the right contest thread to post a story.

What you posted in the story contest for Week 542 wasn’t a story but instructions for building a gingerbread house--which was interesting to read, by the way. Maria won the contest by default because she had posted the only story (a prose piece with a plot and characters).

You will probably not believe me, but I still use a manual typewriter. It’s a Royal office model that was made in 1952. I use it to type checks. I haven’t been able to get ribbons for it in well over a decade. Fortunately, calculator ribbons are made in the same width and work just as well.

If you go to the folder “Your Writing” and click on “New Topic” (on the upper right), you can create a thread specifically for posting your writing.

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments Hey, everyone. It looks like I won't be able to participate in this contest on account of me getting the flu and not fully recovering mentally or physically after all this time. I had three different ideas for the contest: a psychedelic horror story called "Spit Out the Black Pill", a thank you letter to my Aunt Ruth (which I'm not sure falls under the guidelines), and a brief history of Rainbow Ranch (where one of my multi-chapter short story ideas takes place). Hopefully I'll be 100% healthy by the time the next contest rolls around.

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments I had an idea, I was just way too tired to work on it. T_T

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments I know a thing or two about tiredness getting in the way. You're not alone, my friend.
