Thanks Janice and Saar! Janice, that sounds like a really nice weekend, I hope you’re having fun.
Saar - Fingers crossed that the magnesium helps. Stress can do all sorts of things. I’ve had bad dizzy spells where I would almost faint while just looking down to the sink while washing my hands for 1.5 years and I’ve been to countless doctors because of it. I took meds and everything - nothing helped. That was until one doctor said it was because I’m totally stressed and ordered a week of bed rest and going out for walks. After that, I was completely fine again! I really really hope your migraines will go away. I used to have them twice a month when I was taking the anti baby pill. It’s horrible.
Thanks everyone, I hope too.@Kristie: I get migraine more when coming older. Thanks, Kirstie, my doctor offered to look for breathing exersises. If I get the chest pains, than the anxiety comes, because I'm hurting and it forms a perpetual circle. So, when I control my breathing, the pain goes away faster.
@Christine: that's good news that all went well.
@Fiona: waw, that's serious, those dizzy spells, but good advice of your doctor. Because of covid, doctors advise more to take nature walks. In Japan it's very common and it's called 'Shinrin Yoku'. My doctor thinks, because the anticonception pill I take, isn't good anymore and that creates the migraines. My partner says that he has dificulties to understand why things are difficult for me and why I've got stress, because I've got it good. I've tried to explain it, but then I feel that I got no reason to stress about and I'm fussing about nothing. So, I just bottle it up.
Saar - I hope the breathing exercises help you. I've done them with people in the middle of panic attacks and seen them work. Also, by older I mean that I think they started lessening in my 50s. You aren't quite there yet. ;) My migraines probably peaked in my late 30s and into my 40s. For me stress was a trigger, but I think hormones play a part too. There are a lot of medications out there now, so hopefully you will find one that works for you.
Hey Saar, breathing exercises are amazing - for sooo many things!!! But, no matter how simple the exercise(s), alway good to have physical prompts (a checklist, or numbered list of instructions), or a person (in person, or a phone call), because in the heat of the moment even the most basic things can just add to the spiral. And, practicing lots outside of the problem moments can help your body build muscle memory of what it needs to be doing. I have a nerve condition that is spiked by stress, and a harassment/bullying situation at work that has me spirally most of the time.
People alway say “just breathe”, but like I said about simple instructions, they forget to break it down and remind us to breathe out 🤦♀️ Be well everybody 🥰
I've discovered recently too how amazing your breath is. Both breathing exercises and simply focusing on your breath. I'm sorry to read about all your difficulties everyone. Big hugs to whoever needs them!
I'm with Peggy here, big hugs to everyone who needs them! I am home again after visiting my family. Going back went well and there was way less traffic than expected. I only had to endure one 60 minute traffic jam which was good given that neither trains nor planes were going today. I do have a headache from driving all day now though.
My work day tomorrow will be quite exhausting. There's a watch fair in Geneva that started today and a lot of important brands are presenting their novelties. All of these novelties need to be in our system asap and I hope it's only going to be a couple hundred.
Thanks everyone, for the support. It means a lot.@Fiona: I hope your work day wasn't to hectic and you've enjoyed your family trip.
Happy birthday, Christine! Have a nice day :D
Thanks, Saar! I’m wondering why I’m so tired lately. I already wanna go to sleep at 8pm, at least that’s when I got really tired the past few days.
Maybe it's the weather? The falling (Fall) and growing (Spring) of the leafs can cause tiredness, nausea...That's what my grandmother always says. Or maybe from your trip or work?
Or maybe everything at once. After about 8 months of being gone my dizzy spells are back. Not as bad (yet) but suddenly I get dizzy while just sitting and doing nothing again.
Welp, this took 12 years longer than I expected, but Amazon is closing the Book Depository. https://www.theguardian.com/books/202...
Can't see any sales on the website for closing down, but watch that space I guess.
Happy birthday for the other day Christine, and grats to your expecting family and friends.Hope everyone who was under the weather are all feeling a bit better this week.
@Rusalka: sad, isn't it? I've received an email of the Book Depository. I used to order 99% of my English books there. I'm going to put one last, big (!) order before it closes. I've heard Blackwell is similar to BD. It's run by Waterstones, but independent on prices and things.
Y'all. I just went to the doctor because of the dizziness. They took some blood and will do a normal blood test and a thyroid test (results coming on Monday). They also took a Vitamin D test and it was really really bad. The normal value is 40, mine was at 9 hahaPlus, they gave me a vaccine against TBE because apparently I live in a high risk tick area (good to know).
Oh bummer, Fiona. Maybe the doctors can prescribe a "fun in the sun vacation" to boost your vitamin D levels. 🌞 I hope they figure it out and you are on the mend soon.
Sorry to hear that, Fiona, but I'm glad you know what is going on and can start treatment as soon as possible.
Yes, I’m already starting it today and will take meds for six months now. Let’s see if it’s only the vitamin D or if the blood tests will show more.
Hey Fiona, that does really suck, but to start getting answers is such a relief. For D deficiencies some things to think about (I’m sure with a value that low the Dr is already working on a plan of action, but these might help?) long walks outside (even a grey day will give you some), some light bulbs will give off UVB rays that will help, increase the fish in your diet, and when all else fails go for a tanning session 😉 your tan will be the envy of all your friends lol
Fiona wrote: "Thanks, Jayme :) I would love that vacation... if it's covered by my insurance lol"
Wouldn't this be nice!
My vitamin D tends to run really low too and I have to take a double dose vitamin daily. Hopefully that's all it is because it's an easy fix.
Jenn - as for fish I don’t like it at all, maybe that is part of the problem? And apart from some tuna I just can’t bring myself to eat it. As for the tan - I think it’s rare to find but I actually don’t want to get a tan lol
Kristie - a double dose is really a lot! I have to take one pill a day for a week now, then one every other day for a week and then one per week for the remaining months. Then I’ll get tested again.
