Let's Talk 2023 . . .
IT’S BLACK WOMEN’S EQUAL PAY DAY AND IT’S CROSS ATLANTIC COMMUNICATION DAY AND IT’S GARY GYGAX DAY AND IT’S NATIONAL INTERN DAY AND IT’S NATIONAL KOREAN WAR VETERANS ARMISTICE DAY AND IT’S NATIONAL REFRESHMENT DAY AND IT’S NATIONAL SCOTCH DAY AND IT’S NORFOLK DAY AND IT’S TAKE YOUR HOUSEPLANTS FOR A WALK DAY AND IT’S TAKE YOUR PANTS FOR A WALK DAY!
IT’S NATIONAL CHICKEN FINGER DAY AND IT’S NATIONAL CHILI DOG DAY AND IT’S NATIONAL CRÈME BRÛLÉE DAY!
Where does everyone get their audiobooks? I buy a lot, but I'm getting frustrated with my library. They have holes in the series. For example, Susanne Brockman, They had the first eight books, then a few were missing, then they had 13 and no more. I asked the librarian, she said it depends on how popular they are. Brockman is a NYT best selling author. Anyway, I registered a request, but I don't see anything changing. We are a relatively small library system, but I thought I would find more in the Tampa Bay library consortium bit ... NO.

I get mine from three sources depending on which one has the books available. I subscribe to OCLS Overdrive (as an overseas patron) and they have a lot of audiobooks! They have the entire Troubleshooters although I didn't listen to the books.
Through OCLS, I also have access to Hoopladigital and I'm also a Scribd subscriber. Between the three I get most of what I want. I stopped Audible as it was really expensive for a very limited selection on AudiblePlus.

Sharon,
The Troubleshooters series is a unique situation. Around book #8, there was a squabble about publisher rights and things got nasty. Brockmann reissued the audiobooks with different narrators, none of them available on Overdrive.
However, I was rolling along, extremely happy with my library’s audiobook offerings. The recent retirement of the recommendation system has had a negative effect, at least in my opinion. We lost the ability to communicate directly as a group with librarians and are now left with whatever system they individually use to select books to add to the catalog, at least via Overdrive. I don’t use Libby so can’t speak to that system.
I also have subscriptions via Audible and Libro.fm, which is now international. I wait for the Audible 2-for-1 credit sales to make my purchases (unless there’s something I can’t wait for). I use Libro.fm for authors that are not part of the library system (lots of UK authors).
Lastly, I’m starting to use NetGalley for audiobooks. I was reluctant in the past because I’m not crazy about the listening app. But! I just got approved for the latest Will Trent audiobook and will stop being so picky.

Thanks ladies. Jonetta, you always have good information to share. I think I checked out Libro.fm once before, but I didn't want to start another subscription. I'm going to cancel a few subscriptions that I do use enough to justify the monthly fee. I'll put some of that money towards this. I read a lot of British authors too.
What I love about Libro.fm is that my purchases get shared with my local independent bookseller! That’s just fabulous.
Publishers are also great sources of audiobooks if you can get on their influencer lists! I've been lucky enough to become a MacMillan Audio Influencer and they're awesome!
