By banning books that don't align with right wing opinions, the powers that be are trying to mould the upcoming generation's thoughts, e.g. on LGBTQ matters. It is more sinister than idiotic.

But if the children aren't raised to think independently or debate maturely? We're going to end up with adults who whine and complain and blame everyone and everything except their own laziness and incompetence. I'm not very PC, but I try to be tolerant of differences in opinion. I love a good, healthy debate and even more so when I'm convinced to change my opinion. People need to just stop trying to force their opinion on others and just be caring instead of judging

Living in the US for a year will finish me off. I have enormous respect for people who can thrive in that country.

It is sad that they are fostering an entire generation that will lack critical thinking skills. It does not bode well for the future of the US.
