After having missed a connection flight and having to stay over in Chicago, I didn't end up making the library at home in time on New Years Eve. So now, all my beloved books for January are sitting there waiting for me. It will be a few days because of New Years Day, and then Nationally recognized new years day. So it won't be until Tuesday that I even get the books. But... I had Affair of Spies sitting in the house so I am reading that. But here is my order.
Affair of Spies
Carrie Soto is Back
Subdue Book #1 - if I can get it in time to be next
Lager Queen
Apeirigon
Island of Missing Trees

Thanks BC for confirming the accent on the audio!! I thought so but wasn't really sure.
I have a few questions but I'll wait until more people have finished.

Does anyone have any thoughts on why the chapter titles were amounts of money? I know that amount came up somewhere in the chapter and the lack of money seemed to be an overriding theme, just wondering what others thought. I initially didn't like Diana's juvenile activities, but realized it was necessary to the plot later on.
Since I had to quit gluten, no beer for me (the GF ones aren't worth the cost), but I'd really like to try Grandma Edith's rhubarb pie in a bottle.

I was worried about Agatha. I thought she was going to do something bad, but I guess she had enough of Helen and just wanted to be with people who were making good beer and having fun.
I loved how community was a main character in this book, how they supported each other despite all the hardships they faced.

I'm apparently in the minority in preferring the beer to the pie. :) I really only like Raspberry, Pumpkin and Chocolate Pie and eat it rarely.

Well, technically it would have to be Helen, but the others weren't brewing lagers.
But I kinda like Edith for the title (and it was one of the people at the nursing home who originally called her that).

I may end up finishing it in print, but have a few books to finish first.

@Amy, sorry you didn't connect with this one. It just hit my mood just right and the end was even better for the trials that got them there.

I finished this on the 8th but just got around to reviewing it. I also listened to the audio but didn't care for the narrator at all (as noted in my review). I felt as though each character had almost the same voice - that of a stereotypical elderly lady voice. Nevertheless, I love the book.
I'm with Amy in that I was a bit put off at first by Diana's law-breaking activities. However, I ended up liking her very much.
I agree about the ending - it was perfect!
I like beer but I'm more of a wine person usually. However, I think this book would be great for anyone who likes books about family relationships. The beer brewing is a big part but doesn't take over the story and I found it fascinating.

I agree about the narrator and am planning to finish this in print.
I would double check the assertion that Nicole R. gave this one five stars. I might have been wrong about that one.
