Thank you - it's a paperback but it wasn't published in December 2022 (which I can now see a record with my cover on) - it must have been some time after 1990 (Fludd was first published in Penguin paperbacks in that year and all three books were issued with uniform covers with same artist etc). As per previous update it has the same ISBN 0140097805 as the record for a Penguin edition with a different cover, previously holding that ISBN which now seems to not have an ISBN assigned at all. That one might be the original 1987 Penguin edition (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...)
When an ACE (alternate cover edition) is created it automatically adds the current date. We can change it. Does your copy not have a publication date?
All it has is Published in Penguin Books 1987 which I think must be the original date - perhaps of that other cover. I bought 3 of her books, Fludd and Every Day is Mother's Day at the same time and they all have a black cover with similar artwork and lettering. I think it was a later printing but with same ISBN as original. Given the date of Fludd as 1990 original publication, I think they are all 1990s versions.

Yes, it can only be on one edition at a time and goes with the new one when it's created.

I think they reissued this and two of her other early novels as the covers are by the same artist but none of the books has the date that the actual covers were added. However from the key numbers it looks like this is a 2nd printing. So this cover could be added as an alternative please? Thanks, Pam
