as usual, I'm behind on my reading so will be finishing and sharing my thoughts later lol can't wait to hear what the rest of y'all think though! :)
I liked this book and thought it was a good start to the trilogy. There was perhaps a bit too much telling and not enough showing in the writing style for me, however I was impressed with how Ronen dealt with what are pretty heavy themes in a way that remained suitable for a young adult audience. My favourite characters were Stella, once I fully understood her, and Snotty who was wonderfully engaging if unfortunately nicknamed!

Okay, yeah, I agree about it seeming more telling than showing, but I think this is a good start to the series! I got a bit frustrated with the narration in the beginning, but I think that's just because we're in the head of the main character lol. I'm pretty sure this is the author's first book as well. I'm definitely interested in reading the rest of the trilogy. It's an interesting plot and I'm curious what will happen next in this world!
