Is there a place to find the tally for the "other" branch? I'm actually just curious how many of us who are not in the library system are participating. I really miss the SLCLS!

I guess I'm a little confused by your question? Each branch keeps track of their own tallies, and then at the end of the program we add them all up to determine a winner. I don't think there is a way to tell how many votes come from outside of the system, because online voters have to pick a branch when they vote online.

The system allows you to choose "other" rather than a branch. It's at the end of the list of all the branches you can choose when voting.Someone told me about it maybe last time or the time before so I voted that way for all the books I read this time.

It would be interesting, and fun, to have access to that number, though.

Debbie (dashforcover) | 1219 comments I was surprised there wouldn't be a way. Librarians do love their statistics -- and need them!

Britt, Book Habitue (britt--bookhabitue) | 767 comments I honestly found Nowhere for Very Long annoying and the more I thought about it (and read other reviews) the worse it got. Then I saw that it was winning by a lot at Hunter and that made me cranky so I went ahead and dropped it since I was already wanting to.
I dropped it on this thread and on my GoodReads rating but obviously it didn't actually affect the Readers' Choice tallies.

Thanks! It was kind of odd for me that normally a book like this I might have not liked - I hated Eat, Pray, Love - but I for some reason liked this one. I'm sorry it didn't work for you.

I vote at my branch and haven't voted online, so I didn't know that was an option! Hence my confusion. Thanks for letting me know!

Audrey (niceyackerman) | 674 comments I love statistics, so here's the library's ranking and mine:

The Last Chance Library 1 | 12
A Flicker in the Dark 2 | 6
The Collector's Daughter 3 | 5
All Her Little Secrets 4 | 7
Nowhere for Very Long 5 | 16 (DNF)
The Siren of Sussex 6 | NA
Mango, Mambo, and Murder 7 | NA
At Summer's End 8 | NA
Look What You Made Me Do 9 | 8
The Stolen Lady 10 | 13
Dead Silence 11 | 1
If You Ask Me 12 | NA
The Patron Saint of Second Chances 13 | 10
Comfort Me with Apples 14 | 2
No Cure for Being Human 15 | 3
The Hacienda 16 | 14
They Can't Take Your Name 17 | 15
Stolen Earth 18 | 11
Light from Uncommon Stars 19 | 9
Blown to Hell 20 | 4

Nowhere for Very Long was boring. I just wasn't in the right mood for Second Chances; otherwise, it'd probably have been higher. I'm not usually a mood reader, but I have been the last couple months.

I am loving these comparison lists!

I agree, lots of the titles I really loved ended up lower on the list. Like Julia said, this is a tally of everyone across the entire system. Patron Saint of Second Chances was much higher on the list at my branch (Taylorsville) but wasn't as popular elsewhere. It just really shows how different everyone's reading preferences are!

That is where my mom is so I like that it is first there!

Britt, Book Habitue (britt--bookhabitue) | 767 comments It would also be interesting to know how many people read different titles.... I'm wondering if Blown to Hell suffered more from not being read at all than from low rankings.

I was wondering that too. And Stolen Earth may have suffered from not having an audio version available.

That's the only reason I didn't get to Stolen Earth. Even with how busy I was at the end of April I could have finished an audio. I was way too tired that last weekend when I finally wasn't busy to not just fall asleep on a physical book.
