Merle (merletau70) | 172 comments A Quiet Life in the Country (Lady Hardcastle Mysteries, #1) by T.E. Kinsey
Category: Edwardian England
Rating: 4 stars
Date Completed: 1/10/23
Comments: First of a series. It's almost cozy, but the main characters are almost too smart for that, nor are they reluctant to solve a mystery.

Merle (merletau70) | 172 comments A Study in Treason (The Daughter of Sherlock Holmes Mysteries, #2) by Leonard Goldberg
Category: Early 20th Century
Date Completed: 1/8/23
Rating: 4 stars
Comments: Joanna and John Watson, Jr. continue to follow in the footsteps of their illustrious parents. This locked-room mystery calls up the Bruce-Partington Plans, and one or two other OH stories (Original Holmes).

Merle (merletau70) | 172 comments A Mystery at Carlton House (Captain Lacey Regency Mysteries, #12) by Ashley Gardner
Category: Regency
Date Completed: 1/30/23
Rating: 4 stars
Comments: A new baby in the Lacey Household doesn't stop the need for Lacey to investigate. All the usual suspects are there, too, with a few new ones.

Merle (merletau70) | 172 comments Murder in St. Giles (Captain Lacey, #13) by Ashley Gardner

Category: Regency
Date Completed: 2/17/23
Rating: 3 stars
Comments: A little twisty and confusing, due to three major storylines as well as a number of intriguing characters.

Merle (merletau70) | 172 comments In the Market for Murder (Lady Hardcastle Mysteries #2) by T.E. Kinsey
Category: Edwardian
Date Completed: 3/14/23
Rating: 3 stars
Comments: The dialogue is so good that one can forgive the author if the stories sometimes become a little tiresome. The Inspector is always a welcome guest/collaborator.

Merle (merletau70) | 172 comments Christmas at The Grange (Lady Hardcastle Mysteries, #3.5) by T.E. Kinsey
Category: Edwardian
Date Completed: 3/14/23
Rating: 3 stars
Comments: A Christmas gift for Lady H. and the tiny Armstrong turns into a holiday play for the village and Lady Farley-Stroud's family.

Merle (merletau70) | 172 comments The Disappearance of Alistair Ainsworth (The Daughter of Sherlock Holmes Mysteries, #3) by Leonard Goldberg
Category: Early 20th century
Date Completed: 3/29/2023
Rating: 4 stars
Comments: Sherlock Holmes did his part for England in the war effort, and his daughter does the same. Finding a kidnapped codebreaker taxes all their efforts but they find their quarry in more ways than one.

Merle (merletau70) | 172 comments The Abduction of Pretty Penny (The Daughter of Sherlock Holmes Mysteries, #5) by Leonard Goldberg
Category: Early 20th Century
Date Completed: 11/11/2023
Rating: 4 stars
Comments: Interesting take on the young woman lost - a pretty girl, an actress who disappears. Slightly different search for the Watsons and Joanna.

Merle (merletau70) | 172 comments Death at Brighton Pavilion (Captain Lacey Regency Mysteries, #14) by Ashley Gardner
Category: Regency
Date Completed: 11/5/2023
Rating: 4 stars
Comments: Captain Lacey has a much bigger problem here, stemming from an attack. Danger comes from an unexpected quarter.

Merle (merletau70) | 172 comments The Custom House Murders (Captain Lacey Regency Mysteries, #15) by Ashley Gardner
Category: Regency
Date Completed: 11/11/2023
Rating: 4 stars
Lady Donata is a force to be reckoned with and there are glimpses of her real power here. A murder that has nothing to do with Lacey also strains the Lady's patience, and then her fury.

This completes my bare minimum requirements for the Bachelor of History. I think I can do a little more before the end of the year.

Thanks, Kerri! I seem to have taken a little walkabout in the middle of the year. I'm hoping to do a couple more before Dec. 31.
