Last night I watched the movie of The Storied Life of AJ Fikry. In the movie, AJ is diagnosed with cancer and dies at the end of the movie. It's been several years since I read it, but I don't remember his dying. Can anyone remind me of this part of the plot?

Yes, he does die at the end of the novel, too.
