I really liked it. I remember hearing about when it came out years ago but I was busy with my career then and not interested in reading something about slavery. At times it was a hard book to listen to, man’s inhumanity to others especially women. If you haven’t read it The Yellow Wife was also very good.

MARCH MINI

We have 9 animals that can change colour. We can read up to 5 tasks per animal using the descriptions as inspiration.

• One book per animal must relate to one of its colours by reading a book with that coloured cover
• One book per animal must relate to its location by reading a book based in that location's country or with an author that lives, or was born in, that country.
• The remaining three books must relate to a characteristic of the animal in some way as per the description given - get creative!
Note: Colour OR Location can be repeated once for a characteristic on each animal.

• Books can be started at any point since the start of the UNO challenge (1st Feb)
• Books need to be finished after the start of this mini at 9am on 15th March March 15, 9am UTC.
• Countdown is here: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

• please clearly state how your book works for the animals on mini reason column in tracker or here
• if you have ideas for tasks from the description please suggest them

Okay that’s weird I see it on my Uno shelf. I wonder if it might because I used different versions on the link and shelf. Let me delete on my shelf and retag from the spreadsheet link. Hopefully that will fix whatever is wrong.

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 1759 comments I’ll hold off finishing Thankless in Death and wait to start When He’s Torn for mini.

When He’s Torn (The Olympus Pride, #5) by Suzanne Wright D4 (Deke uses claws as a cat shifter); I4 (sternum/torso on cover); D2/H2 (set in USA); I2 (author born & lives in UK)

Thankless in Death (In Death, #37) by J.D. Robb B3/C3 (killer changes hair/appearance to hide from police); G4 (killer waits in victims homes for them to return to kill them)

Jean | 108 comments The Escape Artist The Man Who Broke Out of Auschwitz to Warn the World by Jonathan Freedland

So I can read this book which is a biography if we can use the last name of the person the book is about as a letter. It would give us a V book

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 1759 comments I normally don’t do characters for non fiction. Here’s the rule on non fiction characters.

Q - What's the rules with non fiction Books? Can the real life people of history say be used as "characters"?
A - Not for the majority of non fiction books, (it opens the doors to books that have a zillion royals listed for example), unless of course the non fiction book is something like "Eat Pray Love" which is told like a novel with limited characters.

That’s fine I was just looking over the books I have already from the library for V/7 books. If after I read the book I think it would qualify because it has limited characters I check in again.

Jhmingos | 417 comments I saw on the mini-task post that the Alaskan hare "is one of the largest species of hares and are basically solitary except during late winter."

So can we use a character that is large in stature or lives a solitary life for an Alaskan hare? Or does it have to come from the description on the spreadsheet?

message 335: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 1759 comments It has to come from description given.

message 336: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments Lizzie, it's in the description for the mini so we can use that, no worries!

Jean, we'll always be able to use your NF book for 0 as i assume it's a standalone.

I’m reading it anyway, but it just might not be that V/7 we need so many of. It will probably work in the mini several places. It’s set in Europe, has a black cover, I think from the blurb they climb, wear patterned clothes, have tattoos, etc. it’s also a T, E and F. Plus I’ll be way over my books this month too so I can afford some that don’t hit the mark.
