Daniela Zekotic | 923 comments 🔖 Which books are you most looking forward to reading this year?
I have really no idea. I'm just happy to get back into reading haha

🔖 How do you consume your books and where do you usually get them?
I usually read on my kindle and get books through overdrive. I might give audio books another shot as I'm currently crocheting a blanket and listening to a book would be great instead of mindlessly watching tv shows lol

🔖 Which author(s) have you read all /most books of?
Probably Stephen King books. I'm not a fan of his person (don't getme started on the sexist language he uses especially in his old books), but something about his books just capture me.

🔖 Would you reather hear a spoiler of a book’s ending or never find out how it ends?
Spoiler for sure

🔖 If you could live in any book universe which one would you choose to be in?
Harry Potter would be fun because of the magic. Otherwise any cozy small town in a romantic book

🔖 Time to get controversial - Which book do you think is the most overrated?
Terry Pratchett books, never got into them

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments welp here I was asking my questions, and then I went awol for more than 48 hours - so sorry about that! on a brighter note though, I finished my first book of 2023 and it was a 5 star read (while also completely wrecking me!). The War That Saved My Life super recommended!!

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments 🔖 Which books are you most looking forward to reading this year?
The Inheritance Games (The Inheritance Games, #1) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes Thunderhead (Arc of a Scythe, #2) by Neal Shusterman You'll Be the Death of Me by Karen M. McManus The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz

🔖 How do you consume your books and where do you usually get them?
I listen to most books on audio which I usually get from scribd or libby. Sometimes I might also get an ebook from there if it's quite short and no audiobook available, but honestly I can barely remember the last time I read a physical book 🙊

🔖 Which author(s) have you read all /most books of?
This is embarrassing, but they're actually both YA authors, Karen M. McManus and John Green lol

🔖 Would you reather hear a spoiler of a book’s ending or never find out how it ends?
I like that we're all agreeing on the spoiler - cliffhangers are so annoying!!

🔖 If you could live in any book universe which one would you choose to be in?
If I get to be a witch (and the world isn't as transphobic as the author who has created it), then the HP universe - although I do think being a left-handed bookseller could be fun too 👀

🔖 Time to get controversial - Which book do you think is the most overrated?
I generally can't get into classics and constantly wonder why they're so hyped, but I think that's more of a me problem. Colleen Hoover I've never tried simply because I know (most of) those books aren't for me. The second Twilight book I HATE with a passion though and it's the reason I never continued with the series. But most importantly, Gone Girl! I don't know why but I neither liked the book nor the movie, and everybody else seems to love both??

I've tried 3 or 4 times to read the book and just haven't got very far. However, I loved the movie.

I asked in the captain's group and they said it's okay to use if it's pronounced QB 7 like you said :)

Thanks yes this is an old book but is pronounce QB7.

Daniela Zekotic | 923 comments I just realised I only have one week to finish my current book before the challenge starts.. Time is flying

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 1759 comments It will be here in no time!

message 61: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments The audiobook of You'll Be the Death of Me just came through from the library and now I don't know whether I should listen to it already or wait until uno and listen to podcasts instead ahhh

message 62: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments also, I may or may not have bought 30 second hand jigsaw puzzles today so I'll definitely have enough of them to do while listening to audiobooks in the next few months lol

I love a good jigsaw. Although I can't remember the last time I sat down and did a physical one.

I find it’s hard in the days before a challenge starts on what to read.

Nice! I like doing puzzles, but online.

I’m working on a 5000 piece puzzle I got for Christmas. I’m thinking it will take at a month to do. If for no other reason the puzzle takes practically all my dining room table and there little space to layout pieces.

message 68: by Jhmingos (new)

Jhmingos | 417 comments I'm like you Danielle, I like doing online puzzles. But I just discovered BoardGamesArena and now I've been doing that while listening to my audiobooks 😁

message 69: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments Ohh I'll have to check out BoardGamesArena, Lizzie!

Jean, we just found out a friend of my mum has a few 5000-6000 puzzles, but we don't have any space to do them, both our dining tables are too narrow lol.

My neck/shoulder area is soooo sore from puzzling last night which sucks even more since our masseuse was here yesterday as well...

message 70: by Jhmingos (last edited Jan 26, 2023 01:44AM) (new)

Jhmingos | 417 comments Jean, I can't even finish a 1000-piece puzzle in a month, much less 5,000. That's impressive.

Let me know what you think Christina if you ever check out that site. I don't know that many board games but they have a huge collection. There's one where you play a Victorian-era gentry family that's fallen on hard times. You get points by having music recitals and admiring the flower garden with a well-connected nobleman haha.

message 71: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments maybe I should not say I did a 1000 piece puzzle I got for Christmas in about 5 hours one very recent evening 🙊

message 72: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 1759 comments Just three and a half days to go.

I’m going to finish the audio I’m reading tomorrow and hold off before starting the next. I should have the kindle books I’m reading done too, so will be all set for Wednesday.

message 73: by Jhmingos (new)

Jhmingos | 417 comments Same, I'm reading short books until Uno begins. They're mostly poetry which is way out of my comfort zone

message 74: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments I haven't started anything since I finished my first and only read of 2023 so far - trying to save my books and reading ability for uno lmao

Jean | 108 comments Do you consider this a blue cover if so it would work for blue 7 and I will read

Smitten (Smitten, #1) by Colleen Coble

It show gray (71%) on tinEye, but . . .

message 77: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (last edited Jan 30, 2023 11:37AM) (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 1759 comments I think that’s blue and enough of it too.

I dislike tineye and don’t use it.

Great thanks I will add it to my list to read

message 79: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments Smitten looks good, and I can do Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson for 8 Green!

message 80: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments Whoever added (or wanted to at least) Finders Keepers for a green card can still read it for a Wild Draw 4, you didn't have to delete it ;)

message 81: by Jhmingos (new)

Jhmingos | 417 comments I forget, can we use series title as part of the Uno spell-out, like author, title, and character?

No on series title.

Lol - that was me. I saw someone else had just entered a book for the green card that we needed, so I went and found a red book by the same author that covered the card we needed there instead. I’ll keep looking around for options that fit the wild card need, so I may add Finders Keepers back or something else that works

message 84: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 915 comments Well I suppose I better plan some books for this month. Been too busy trying to cram/finish books before the end of January to even think about February haha

message 85: by Daniela (new)

Daniela Zekotic | 923 comments I haven't been able to finish my current book, I guess that one will have to wait until may lol (but the story isn't really coplex, so can easily pick it up in 3 months again).

I haven't planned my books for february yet. so if anyone has recommendations for light reads let me know. I have a few papers to write for university, so I'm really looking for fun and not too complex books

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments Hope you're feeling better today, Danielle!

And I saw that, Lizzie! I'm hoping to read the whole trilogy for uno and not wait for months or even years inbetween like I do way too often with series lol.
