RULES
— books must be started after the countdown
• (9am 1st Feb London; 4am 1st Feb US East Coast)
https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...
— books must be 101 pages and over
• verified as over 25,000 words (arbookfind sites) or 3 hours of audio (audible) for
Children's books, Graphic Novels, Manga, Cook Books, Plays and Poetry
— check in with the team at least one a week
• that way we know you’re still actively participating. It doesn’t need to be more than a quick hello
TRACKING
— planning sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
• Add your books, with a hyperlink to the edition you’re reading
• Add reason it fits for all cards it works for that way we can place your book in the best spot or do some shuffling
• make sure it is on your UNO shelf with a read date
— completion post
• if you’re using spreadsheet, no need for full post. Just a quick post with finished [book] is always nice.
• if not adding to sheet, then a complete post is needed with all relevant info
COLOUR COVERS
— Covers have to be 50% or more the required colour.
we’ll be using our eyes and common sense for this. (No outside website)
if there's consensus on colour, we’ll use.
if not, then we won't use it for a colour card
— Possibilities for Colour Cards
• These lists might be helpful to find some colour covers and been used in past UNOs.
🟨 Yellow Covers
🟩 Green Covers
🟦 Blue Covers
🟥 Red Covers
— NOTE: just because a book is on the list doesn't mean it is actually valid to use (anyone can add books to the list). Also, we have to use the edition that we read. Some books on this list may not seem like the colour cover, this is because GR will show the default version. There may be an edition that has been shelved that is the actual colour. But again, you need to read the edition with the colour cover, so make sure you double check.
CARDS
— colour cards are the only cards that can be claimed
the rest will be filled in as needed by the captains.
— Quick Reference for Cards
• Zero (Z), One (O), Two (T), Three (H), Four (F), Five (I), Six (S), Seven (V), Eight (E), Nine (N), Skip (K/P), Reverse (book a team member has read)
• Title of first word (use or ignore articles), Author Name (first or last), Character Names (first or last) and Place Settings, used for above letters
— NOTE:
• Characters need to have a speaking role and some meaning to story.
• non-fiction books don't (usually) have characters. So will typically be used for title, author or standalone only
• place needs to be the main setting of book

I’m Danielle (she/her) and I’m from Wales. I’m the captain for this UNO. This is my 8th time playing, and I’ve only missed the first year it was played. It’s nice every to start the new year off with a fun, less pressure challenge, I find anyway!
I’m looking forward to playing this round and reading some good books, hopefully!
I read mostly romance and fantasy books. I do read some mystery and sci-fi also. I’m generally a mood reader and like challenges to help pick books. I’m in the middle of rereading the In Death books. My plan this year is to catch up on some big fantasy series I’ve gotten behind on.
Here’s my uno shelf - uno
If you have questions, don’t be afraid to ask them :)
If you can please introduce yourself and link your UNO shelf, that would be great!

Great to see some familiar names and some new people. Looking forward to getting started. UNO is always my favourite challenge :)
My UNO shelf is here - uno-2023

I'm Christina (she/her), from Austria, co-captain, and coincidentally this is also my 8th time playing :D
Every year I'm looking forward to uno as it usually brings me out of my reading slumps which I always struggle with at the end of the year /beginning of the new year.
I try to read almost anything, especially for extra points in team challenges ;), but mostly I prefer contemporary, mysteries and thrillers. At this point I consume most books in audio form, usually while doing housework, jigsaw puzzles, or while walking our family dog.
I hope you all have fun playing uno with us, and if you've got any questions, ask away :)
Last but not least here's my uno shelf!

My goodreads account is set to private, so friend me to see my shelves. Here is a link to my Uno shelf Uno shelf

Is this your first team challenge in general or have you joined others before? You're gonna love this one!!

I read mostly UF, PNR, and fantasy romance, and I’ve gotten into space operas lately too.
Here is my UNO shelf: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Can’t wait to get started!

This one can look more complicated that it really is, it’s a great one to start off with if you haven’t played any other team challenge before.

Is this your first team challenge in general or have you joined others before? You're gonna love this one!!"
I’ve done several other challenges in the past and am currently doing three in other groups, one will end mid February, one, the end of March and the last is a year long pairs challenge. I also did wheel 7 in this group last fall. Fortunately the only challenge right now that has strict genre read requirements is the one that ends in February.

And Jean - this will make two challenges that we are playing together at the same time! Hopefully you will not get tired of seeing me around GR 😂

I'm Daniela, also from Austria. This is my 8th time playing, first time not as captain or co-captain as university will keep me quite busy this semester. Christina and I have been on the same team every year since 2016 or 2017 I think, so I'm happy to see her here again lol
I'm also doing the popsugar challenge this year to get to know new authors. I mostly read thrillers or supernatural stuff, but with uno I tend to read anything I stumble upon (especially for the mini challenges)
Here is my shelf

Not all you’re a great teammate to have!

The Sister Circle Vonette Bright

FYI she also has a second book in the series that would work for 7blue on kindle unlimited if someone has that (I unfortunately don’t)
I’ll read anything for a challenge but this book gets mixed reviews for religious overtones so be forewarned if this is not your genre.

I also have if we need it after everyone has a chance to claim theirs a 8 green, 1 blue, 6 red and 5 green.

🔖 Which books are you most looking forward to reading this year?

🔖 How do you consume your books and where do you usually get them?
I’d say 80-85% of my reading is on kindle, the rest is an audio.
🔖 Which author(s) have you read all /most books of?
I haven’t quite read all of Nora Roberts, but her pseudonym of J.D. Robb, I have. Another author I read straight away is Nalini Singh. My plan of 2023 is to catch up on some series/author’s I’ve gotten behind on.
🔖 Would you rather hear a spoiler of a book’s ending or never find out how it ends?
I’d rather hear a spoiler, I don’t mind them and something likes them.
🔖 If you could live in any book universe which one would you prefer to be in?
This is a hard one and my mind has gone blank at the moment. I’ll have to think about it.
🔖 Time to get controversial - Which book do you think is the most overrated?
Harry Potter series. I could not get into that series. I tried many times and gave up after book 3.

🔖 How do you consume your books and where do you usually get them? I actually do a combination of audiobooks, hardcovers, and kindle. They're kind of evenly split.
🔖 Which author(s) have you read all /most books of? Agatha Christie, Julia Quinn, and Janet Evanovich--they're all prolific authors and I've read a lot of their books.
🔖 Would you rather hear a spoiler of a book’s ending or never find out how it ends? Probably a spoiler for a book's ending. It would drive me nuts if I didn't know the ending of a book I was enjoying.
🔖 If you could live in any book universe which one would you choose to be in? Maybe because I don't enjoy a lot of fantasy or sci-fi novels, I can't imagine any "book universe" I would want to live in.
🔖 Time to get controversial - Which book do you think is the most overrated? Ugh, The Great Gatsby haha. I just don't get why people think it's one of the greatest all-time novels.

Danielle, I can already tell you and I have similar reading interests as a number of your books/answers correspond to mine : )
🔖 Which books are you most looking forward to reading this year?

🔖 How do you consume your books and where do you usually get them? On my Kindle app - most books I either download via KU or the digital library for my county, although for my favorite authors I’ll simply buy.
🔖 Which author(s) have you read all /most books of?
I took a quick look at my Read folder, and the authors I have read the most books of are Ilona Andrews and Nalini Singh. I will literally read anything Ilona Andrews writes.
🔖 Would you reather hear a spoiler of a book’s ending or never find out how it ends? Spoiler for the book’s ending for sure.
🔖 If you could live in any book universe which one would you choose to be in? Probably the Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews. They have psychic superpowers!
🔖 Time to get controversial - Which book do you think is the most overrated? Hmm, this was a really interesting question and one that made me think - I had a couple in mind, so narrowed it down based on some categories:
Most overrated series I have read: Twilight (runner up: Hunger Games)
Most super popular overrated book I refused to read: Fifty Shades of Grey (runner up: The Bridges of Madison County)
Most overrated classic I was forced to read in school and hated with a passion: The Great Gatsby. Not even a runner up for this one - I detested this book and have never understood the fuss.

🔖 How do you consume your books and where do you usually get them?
- I read a mixture of ebooks and audiobooks. As in, if I can find an audio copy of a book, I will listen to it in the morning when I'm getting ready for work or when I'm cleaning, whatever. And then I read on my Kindle at breaks at work, or downtime at home etc. So each book I read, usually, is a mixture of audio/ebook.
🔖 Which author(s) have you read all /most books of?
- I think my most read author is Katee Robert, and I've still only read about 75% of her works. I'm just obsessed with her writing and storytelling. The Wicked Villains series is one of my all-time favourites.
🔖 Would you rather hear a spoiler of a book’s ending or never find out how it ends?
- Ooooo. Probably spoiler of a book's ending because I HATE not knowing. Plus I've been majorly spoiled for so much stuff in the past that I can live with it.
🔖 If you could live in any book universe which one would you choose to be in?
- Let me think on that one haha
🔖 Time to get controversial - Which book do you think is the most overrated?
- Not a particular book, but I'm not a huge fan of Colleen Hoover and the hype around her. I've read a few of her books and enjoyed some, but I don't think she's the best romance author ever. (Please don't come for me if you're a fan of her)

I’ll see if I can find the answer, as I’m not 100% sure. It would work for other cards anyway (standalone, characters?), so it would be used somewhere.

Danielle, I can already tell you and I have similar reading interests as a number of your books/answers correspond to mine : )
🔖 Which books are you most looking forward to ..."
Hidden Legacy world is a good answer. I only read the first book in the Hunger Games series and I haven’t and won’t read Fifty Shades.

- Not a particular book, but I'm not a huge fan of Colleen Hoover and the hype around her. I've read a few of her books and enjoyed some, but I don't think she's the best romance author ever. (Please don't come for me if you're a fan of her) ..."
I’ve only read a couple by her and I didn’t like either of them (Ugly Love and Never Never) and that was back in 2015.

I’ll see if I can find the answer, as I’m not 1..."
Its okay either way, it will count somewhere else I’m sure. It’s just those V and therefore 7s might be hard. The title is pronounced QB 7 but written with Roman numerals so I wasn’t sure. I am doing a read your lifetime challenge where you read a book from every year of your life and I think this is 1973. I read it 40 year or more years ago and thought I would reread.

I read most of the new releases each year both from my favorite authors and from reviews I see around. My list would be extensive!
🔖 How do you consume your books and where do you usually get them?
I do a combination of audiobook, kindle, and physical books and usually have three or more books going at the same time.
🔖 Which author(s) have you read all /most books of?
Boy I’ll have to look but I would guess Christine Feehan, Karen Rose, Susan Mallery, Lee Child, Steven King, Nora Roberts, Karin Slaughter, Brenda Novak, and so on and so on. I tend to read a good book and then go back and read everything that person has written within reason.
🔖 Would you rather hear a spoiler of a book’s ending or never find out how it ends?
Oh I need the spoiler. I hate cliffhangers with a passion and avoid books with them and it’s even worst if there is no good ending to a book.
🔖 If you could live in any book universe which one would you choose to be in?
Unlike everyone else here I would opt to live in small town America. The idealized version like Virgin River or Fools Gold.
🔖 Time to get controversial - Which book do you think is the most overrated?
I’ll read most anything but I could never get into Harry Potter so I’ve not read those books.

Boy I’ll have to look but I would guess Christine Feehan, Karen Rose, Susan Mallery..."
Those are some good authors, I’ve just have the latest Karen Rose to read. Agree, when I find an author I like, I typically read most everything they’ve written.
Virgin River or Fool’s Gold are nice small towns to choose.

Danielle, I can already tell you and I have similar reading interests as a number of your books/answers correspond to mine : )
🔖 Which books are you most looking forward to ..."
I'm glad you feel the same way I do about The Great Gatsby. It's always on the list of top classics and reading essentials and I don't understand how it keeps happening haha.
