(300p)Found a couple options on my TBR -- and I love Secret Life of Bees (even if it was required reading for me in college!)
Happy (almost) Birthday :)
This one was hard! Every time I thought I had a book that would work, I realized the page number was all wrong. I think I've finally settled on The Year of the Flood.

Oh, holy crap. I think I need to come back to this task tomorrow! lol
Just to clarify: If we read an ebook version, I understand we use the MMP to establish the page numbers. But do we then use the cover image for the MMP, or from the ebook edition we actually read?
I think I found the perfect book.
there is no paperback as of yet, just hardcover with 305 pages, and it has a kindle version and an audiobook version.
Oh man... the hardest task for me in the last SRC was the page number one, and that one didn't have the other constraints. Might have to give this task a miss, though perhaps if I stop back later in the season, there will be more ebooks approved.(I only read ebooks because of disability being too weak to hold physical books.)
Happy early birthday! The MMP for Again the Magic has 391 pages and the large print version has blossoms
. Is that OK?
I'm pretty open to genres. My absolute favourite is Science Fiction, but I'm currently going through a spell of Literary/World Fiction and Young Adult. Of course it helps if my library carries it. They have a small ebook collection, but they are open to recommendations. So far, the ones I've been successful with have been fairly new-ish releases. :)
I am struggling with the page requirement when I find a cover that works. This one is tough! Cozy mysteries usually run less than 300 pages. Regular mysteries usually are longer but covers do not have nice items like in the list. Rather they tend to guns and dead bodies.
I found a Julia Quinn that should fit the bill: Minx has 391 pages and a cover filled with beautiful blue blossoms.
Also, Happy Birthday, Diane!
Here's one that fits the bill:Purple Hibiscus
by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie 307 pagesMy sisters birthday is also 3/07 - love it!
I've found another historical romance that should work:
as 360 pages and has a bouquet of flowers on the cover.
:( my library does not have that book. This just might be too hard a task for me. I have books that fit the pages but not the cover requirement and vice versa.I mean, it is not like I finish the challenge anyway. Just my OCD that makes me want to fill all the slots. :)
- I found this one - its free on kindle (always good); with a baseball on the cover and the print copy (for page verification is 317pgs
Thanks Dee for the freebie tip. The book I was going to use from the library wasn't the right edition so I was back to the drawing board.
Will this work?Kindle edition:
(blossom on cover)Or this Kindle edition:
(blossoms - there appears to be flowers sitting on the bench just above the woman's leg)Or this audio edition:
(blossoms - flower arrangement on table)Paired with top MMP: Mansfield Park (510 pages) (to establish page number)
I wish butterfly was on here. :)Thanks for the ideas guys! The cover part is going okay but then the numbers make it not fit. It's fun to search though.
Okay, hopefully I'm figuring this out properly
The cover shows a bird, and I have the Hardcover edition to read. That has 576 pages which fits with the page number requirement.
There is also a paperback version where the numbers don't match, but that doesn't matter so long as I read the Hardcover...
Went looking again for birds:*removed -- under 300 pages*

(371p)*removed -- under 300 pages*
Couple more that might help people who are looking.

yeah, but there is a minimum of 300 pages so two of those won't work. I am still looking.

Well poop.
Sorry Bea :( Thought I had my bases covered keeping the 2s and 4s out. (I seem bound and determined there is a 2 or a 4 in the date when I'm checking page numbers.)
This turned up in my library hold pile today. I think those are flowers on the front. What do you think?
~ 316 pages
Okay ... I can get the Large print edition from my library
- 573 pagesBLOSSOM on cover
(and just to verify that it is legitimately over 300 pages ...here is a link to the original hardcover - NOT large print - The Husband's Secret with 394 pg)
So would I be okay reading the large print edition?

Yes, if you read a large type edition you may use those page numbers to meet task requirements as long as a traditional print edition meets the page threshold- but as described in the rules- use the same method as for ebooks: most popular edition MMPB first, then paperback, then hardcover

Checking to see if:
will work. The edition I have is hardcover with 570 pages and shows a single bird on the cover. Thank you!
Must admit, I'm having problems with this one. My TBR has lots and blossoms, and a fair number of pagers, but never in the same book. Birds may well help! But so far everything I've looked at has either a 2 or a 4 in the page count.
Is the penguin from the penguin logo acceptable as a "bird on the cover" for this challenge? Most of the books published by penguin have their logo on the front cover, and finding a book to fit this challenge will be a lot easier for me if I know I can look amongst the penguin classics for something that meets the page requirement! Some examples of covers with the logo on (I don't think any of them meet the page number requirements, so I'm not looking for approval for these books, just that the logo could count!)

Oops ! I guess I missed that part. Thanks for letting me know!!
This is definitely my jinx task for this Challenge! I have way too many books with 2 4 or 8 in the pagecount! So I looked at the approved books and found read Maisie Dobbs, which I'd been meaning to read. So I bought what I thought was the right edition. I thought I even put the ISBN into Amazon, but when I got it it was this edition: Maisie Dobbs.
So my question is, can I still use it, as there is an edition which has been approved? Or am I going to have to find something else instead?

Both editions exist on Goodreads: the links are in my message. The issue is I thought that I'd bought the specific edition listed in the approval message, but the one that turned up was a different edition. Can I still use it for the task.

On March 7th, I will celebrate my 50th Birthday and I’m feeling a bit nostalgic. This task is based on the popular children’s game and book series, I SPY.
However, my version is for adults. So, books with the genre children or kids may NOT be used for this task.
I spy with my little eye, signs of Spring…
A Baseball
A Bird
A Bird Nest
A Blossom
A Bunny Rabbit
A Bumbershoot (Umbrella)
A Bumble Bee
Read a book that fulfills A AND B.
A. Using the list above, AT LEAST ONE of the objects must appear on the cover. For example, a cover may have two umbrellas, several blossoms or contain both a blossom and a bumble bee.
AND
B. Books must be a Minimum of 300 pages and MUST include only numbers from the following number sequence, my birthday 03/07/1965. (ex. 301, 379, 500 pages) Numbers may only be used as many times as they occur.
NOTE: ebooks without print versions cannot be used for tasks requiring a specific number of pages. If you read an ebook or audiobook use the page count for the mass market paperback if one exists. If there is no mass market paperback edition, use the paperback edition and if no paperback is available use the hardcover edition.
And remember, books with the genre children or kids may NOT be used for this task.
ex.
Required: Include the Book Cover. Identify the item and point it out if it is not easily seen. Remember to link to the book edition that you read and if necessary the qualifying edition that indicates the page numbers to fulfill B.
