I have read a LOT of classics but I had never read this one, though of course I knew the central story. The actual book is very short and it takes a while to get to the action, which is typical of the Victorians. There were some interesting points about the evil inside all of us, as well as a metaphor for addiction. The doctor needs his "fix" more and more often and is eventually taken over by it
