I do make notes occasionally. I have to admit I forget the details if I allow time to pass and my reviews tend to be shorter, lol.

I pretty much only read on my Kindle, as such, note taking is much easier. When I come across something that strikes my interest that I may want to remember to include in my review, I just highlight it and make a note. That way, when I'm finished with the book, I just scroll back through reviewing my notes and it's much easier to write my review that way. You can even highlight in different colors. I'll highlight things I want to quote in one color, other information that may be worthy to note in another, and grammatical errors in another. It helps me to separate my thoughts.
I think I've hit a dry spell with NetGalley. I've requested several titles lately, but I've either been declined, or I don't hear back. Is anyone else having this problem, or is it just me?

I take notes. I ususally have way more highlights (in my kindle) and notes than I use in reviews but I never know until I'm done what I might use. Sometimes something will just strike me and I want to make note of it just in case.

I'm the same way Mike... I'll just highlight away "just in case" I may need it. lol
It takes time, Malina, to build up a profile. Things do get easier with time. Do a 'read now' occasionally and see where that takes you. Don't let NetGalley get you down and enjoy your reading 📖! ☺️
Janet wrote: "It takes time, Malina, to build up a profile. Things do get easier with time. Do a 'read now' occasionally and see where that takes you. I also have some other titles from Amazon Prime that I'm going to read and then I'll probably go back to NetGalley. I'll just keep reading and reviewing and working on finding new friends to share them with in the process. I only wish I could read faster! lol
Nope not gonna do it but I did get approved for A Thousand Rooms. Now what surprised me is that it's still on list even though it's been published. Go figure.
Nope not gonna request even though I did get approved for
. What surprised me was that it has been published but it's not a to read book.
I actually have seen that a lot, Chris. I like them as I don't have the publication date hanging over my head.

"I didn't know you were a horror fan, Adrian."
I used to read a lot of Stephen King/Clive Barker when I was much younger(and a much more infrequent reader)
It kinda looks like a thriller with horror thrown in! Fancied something a little different and the publisher has been quite accomadating to me thus far so I requested and thankfully was approved.
It's my next read due to the publish date despite having another 4 or 5 titles on my NetGalley shelf.
Am I the only one who doesn't take much notice of publication dates?! I just read what I have when I can!! *I'll go and sit on the laugh step now!!* 😟 😀😁
I have been scouring netgalley and can't seem to "find" anything I think I'd like!! Is it just me????
I had an email from a publisher (Random House I think it was) inviting me to read a couple of books so I went for them. The Lying Game
is one. Can't remember the other!!
is one. Can't remember the other!!
Janet wrote: "Am I the only one who doesn't take much notice of publication dates?! I just read what I have when I can!! *I'll go and sit on the laugh step now!!* 😟 😀😁"I do the same thing, Janet. Sometimes I actually get the review done before the publication date!
Malina Skrobosinski wrote: "Just approved for
The Secrets She Keeps"I really enjoyed it Malina. Hope you do too.
Holly wrote: "I have been scouring netgalley and can't seem to "find" anything I think I'd like!! Is it just me????"Same here Holly. I'm on netgalley daily and I haven't found anything that I am dying to read. Which is a good thing because now I can catch up and read the 53 books I have on my tbr shelf.

It is always nice to catch up on reading and staying away from the green button. I don't see anything that rocks my boat either which means if I keep this up my shelf can be emptied out by the end of the summer.

Exactly!!! Why am I even looking???
I found two that I am interested in.
Bone White I got approved for this one. Also
Dead Jeakous by Helen H DurrantIs a Read Now It looks like GoodReads made a mistake and put Jeakous instead of Jealous. Its suppose to be Dead Jealous.
I had Exposed by Lisa Scottoline approved. Actually I had one of the marketing managers write to me to ask if I would review her upcoming book. I think this is the 5th one they have asked me to review.
Adrian wrote: "I'm reading Bone White at the moment and loving it."I curse you Adrian for making me keep hitting the request button!
Jan wrote: "Adrian wrote: "I'm reading Bone White at the moment and loving it."I curse you Adrian for making me keep hitting the request button!"
Haha Jan love it. This one has a touch of supernatural/horror to it so hope that suits your tastes. I'm 70% done so far and it's been great.

Yep-I like to mix things up a bit so this sounds right up my alley ;)

Thanks Adrian! Now I am excited to read it. It most likely will be my next read.
Adrian wrote: "I'm reading Bone White at the moment and loving it."Looks interesting. Just requested it.
Janet wrote: "Am I the only one who doesn't take much notice of publication dates?! I just read what I have when I can!! *I'll go and sit on the laugh step now!!* 😟 😀😁"Same here. I will try to read oldest downloaded ones first but if it's a favorite author, I will read that one. I have 54 on my tbr shelf and only 9 are future publication dates. So I guess I'm a little behind.

I don't take notes but I might highlight a few lines I want to quote or information I want to remember. Like Christine, I need to write reviews within a few days of finishing the book while it's still fresh.

I'm in Australia and often request out of region books that we can't get - US and UK mostly. I probably get 1 in 3, mostly UK at a guess. Sometimes a publisher will approve one and refuse the next so there doesn't seem to be a pattern to which ones I get. Doesn't seem to be any harm in asking.

Don't Let Go"Jealous! Harlan Coben is one of my favorite authors but it's still pending.
Just got approved for
Artemis. Excited for this one since I didn't think I was going to get approved for it.

Lol, Bam, if I don't write my reviews right away, I can't remember the salient facts. I don't take notes when I read (except if I'm doing a buddy read), and don't want to have to start.Do you take notes? Who else takes notes?
